Kicking Grass There was a pretty good profile of the Silverbacks in Emory Magazine. Goes through some of the team's history and some of the challenges they face today.
That is the finest article about the team I've ever seen. I never knew how John Latham and Robert Glustrom came to own the team. That was interesting and funny. And of course I enjoyed the kind words about the 109 But best of all I can say that the writer really captured the spirit of what is going on, and also gave true insight into the many talented people working behind the scenes.
Good article. The 1998 "replacement" team was special; they won more games than the "real" Ruckus did that year. It was neat to watch them beat Project 40 (kind of like MLS Reserves), and then hand Jacksonville's butt to them (5-2), after their owners drove up in a limo, and we had to wait out a popcorn thunder shower. You can say one thing; the Ruckus/Silverbacks do have staying power.
Nice to see so many people I know in the pics. Cool 'behind the scenes' stuff in there. Didnt realize there were so many Emory ppl involved.
