Great news. This guy or Rafa from Porto will probably be starting at Left Back for Portugal in the future when Coentrao is done.
JC Texeira interview Also Mesca is about to make his first team debut and should be called for the 21s
Liverpool have loaned out Joao Carlos Teixeira to Brentford in England's League One to get more playing time. http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/news/article/joao-teixiera-signs-10.09.13-1045656.aspx
The future looks bright. Very excited. The next generation will be the best because we will have good positional players.
5 goals in 6 games in the u19 league so far. Top scorer for Sporting tied with striker Mama Baldé (5 goals in 5 games) and winger Lisandro Semedo (5 goals in 7 games).
I started following Nelson Oliveira ever since I saw him in that U-20 WC final. But I haven't been tracking him recently with his latest move, and noticed he hasn't been getting called up to your NT like he use to. How has his development been coming, and are the expectations for him the same?
LOL. Speaking of which, today during Bes. vs Gala Manelete missed a really feeble one-on-one (I don't know how he played otherwise - just speaking highlights). By contrast, Bruma showed tremendous hussle (and explosiveness) to steal the ball from FB in the corner and feed Drogba for tying goal. Looks like all those months holding back for a "better deal" haven't hurt his wheels. Def. someone that Bento is going to keep watching...
Saw the game Manelele dominated the match in the first half, and almerda superisingly was effective up front. Second half Bruma changed the game completely, even though he didn't have the same starstruck impact he did vs real Madrid(could have scored 2 goals in that game) He's still trying to find his legs after a August of no first team training.
That was probably everything Portugal's staff watched too. As Area 51 said, Manuel Fernandes controlled the midfield for the largest part of the match, up until Galatasaray's second goal. Both Galatasaray's goals, for the record, came from amateur defensive mistakes. Besiktas were, overall, better and Bruma should have started. For a team playing against Besiktas with Sneijder and Drogba, they have a serious creative deficiency.
The mistakes were amateurish enough that my 1st thought was "rigged"/mafia... I don't know about Turkish league though - a game between such rivals wouldn't be rigged, would it? Even Manalete's chance come from a very poor clearance (unlike Drogba he couldn't put it away though...).
Marcos Lopes gets the start today for Manchester City in League Cup action. He's been tearing it up at the youth levels. Pretty impressive for a 17 year old to be starting with guys like Dzeko, Fernandinho, Jovetic etc... CITY XI: Pantilimon, Richards, Boyata, Lescott, Clichy, Milner, Fernandinho, Garcia, Lopes, Dzeko, Jovetic
Ya, supposedly he looked really good. Came off at the 70 min mark for Jesus Navas. On Man City's website, they were doing play by play. Here's some quotes from their commentary.... Lopes hits the crossbar!!!! He's so unlucky not to have his second goal for the club. Jovetic slipped as he was about to pull the trigger but the ball fell for the 17-year old who cracked a measured left-footed strike onto the underside of the crossbar Lopes goes close again after a great pass from Dzeko to Milner - the England man whips in a cross which Marcos can't quite turn on target. From the subsequent corner, it falls to Lopes again who cracks a volley towards goal - it pinballs around the area before Wigan finally clear. He's got no fear, Lopes - looks really at home in this team. Marcos Lopes receives a standing ovation - what a moment for the youngster. Navas takes his place Lopes showed he's at home at this level, linking up with the established internationals around him to great effect. Hopefully a place in the fourth round will be ours so he gets more opportunities...
All the comments from the game suggest that based on that performance, he should be on the first team consistently. Only 17 years old....Maybe our best prospect?
I think he might be our best prospect under the age of 20, but time will tell. Seems to have more brains than Bruma, that's for sure. Here's an interview with him after today's game. His English is improving slowly.
This guy has it all and may well be a future captain of Man City. He is already a captain of the youth team at 17 and being mentored by Vincent Kompany. The thing that I really love about his guy is he ascolute respect of retaining possession. Future looks bright.
