Edgar, Joe Corona, Greg Garza, Alejandro Guido, and Cyril Saucedo are now Liga MX Champs as Tijuana takes the crown defeating Toluca 4-1 on aggregate. Castillo and Saucedo played the full 90 and Corona was subbed off ~70 minutes. 3 starters on the Liga MX Champions are Yanks abroad.

Saucedo? Haven't heard of him before? Is it because he has declared for Mexico? And if he has not, what position does he play, and can klinsi use him?
I really like how Edgar battled through the rough part of his career to rebound to being a national team-caliber player again. Shows character, and that's never a bad thing to have, or to have in your national team (or club) players. Castillo's career got off to a great start. Championship at Santos, Mexican national team caps, transfer to Club America... and then he had the rough spell where he bounced around Mexico, damaged his El Tri chances, switched to the US, couldn't crack our NT.... But he kept plugging away and finally found himself in a good club situation, made the most of it and is back in the NT picture again and again campeon de Mexico. A lot of players, when they hit that rough patch, may have seen their career continue to go south but Edgar kept at it, which is one of the reasons I root for him.
isn't there a Saucedo thread for this stuff? https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/cirilo-saucedo-at-club-tijuana.1776576/
Point taken. Off topic posts about--among other things--Brad Freaking Friedel playing against the US deleted. Sorry guys, but as has been stated on numerous occasions, YA threads quickly get turned into USA Men threads unless the NT stuff is trimmed pretty aggressively. This thread is/was a good case in point.
1/13: "In Saturday’s games, Joe Corona and Edgar Castillo continued recent fine form in Tijuana’s 1-0 win against Club León. Both were involved in the only goal of the game, with Castillo passing the ball inside to Corona (above), who fed the ball to Fernando Arce to set up Alfredo Moreno’s goal." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/01/13/american-exports-corona-castillo-key-tijuanas-win 1/6: " Liga MX champions Club Tijuana began the Clausura 2013 championship on Sunday in the same vein as they ended last season, defeating Puebla 2-1 in a game involving four US internationals.... American Edgar Castillo was quite heavily involved at both ends of the pitch and should’ve won a penalty in the 18th minute when he was brought down with a clumsy challenge just inside the penalty area. Castillo also came close to providing an assist for Duvier Riascos in the 67th, when he sent his teammate clear, but the shot was deflected wide." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/01/06/american-exports-herculez-scores-xolos-win-opener
"Tigres UANL ... remain... top of the league after their dramatic 2-2 draw Saturday evening in the Estadio Universitario against Club Tijuana.... Edgar Castillo completed the full game for Tijuana, who remain level on points with Tigres, and almost grabbed the winner when he burst into the box in injury time, only to see his first effort saved and his rebounded shot fly over the crossbar. The New Mexico native was a constant threat down the Xolos left flank with his interceptions and strong dribbling. He was also called into US camp on Monday." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...n-exports-mexicos-yanks-healthy-ready-us-call
"Edgar Castillo had a Friday night to forget, receiving a second yellow card and giving away a penalty for pulling down Jaguares’ Franco Arizala just after halftime. The incident represented Castillo’s first red card since moving to Mexico as a teenager and Xolos couldn’t recover, losing 2-0 in Chiapas." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/02/17/american-exports-beasley-torres-make-case-klinsmann
Had a HUGE assist on a cross tonight in the Xolos' first ever Copa Libertadores win. They beat Milionarios 1-0 in Bogota.
That's a big-time result. Winning on the road in Copa Libertadores is nothing to sneeze at. Getting the winning assist and part of a defense that got a clean sheet makes it even more impressive.
The goal: An extended video in Spanish to get Xolo aficionados who understand Spanish hyped for Libertadores ("Libertadores de America--Xolos"):
Stop wondering - of course you should. And please go prepared, we'll need real-time updates with all the trimmings.
