That incident was so overblown. Neither of them committed a foul. Kuyt is one of the nicest and most humble professional footballers, funny how some pundits are vilifying him. Likewiwse with Fletch - done nothing wrong there, but good to see that firy spirit.

If you're Dirk Kuyt, there's not much reason to be anything else but humble.

First Ballack (no shock, he's german) now Kuyt (shock, but he does play on one of your favorite teams), is there any one you won't defend?

    Somebody tweeted this:

Keane clearly had a big impact on Fletcher: “When I lost the ball, he used to tear me to pieces,” said Fletcher. “He’d scream, ‘Control the effing ball, watch your effing passes’. I remember one day when I was looking at messages on my mobile with him alongside. He annihilated me. He humiliated me all the way to the gym. The rules we follow at United are the ones he laid down. Like meeting half an hour before set times, being on an exercise bike 15 minutes before training, not looking at your mobile in the dressing room. Roy Keane is the guy who made me. I have known professionals who applied themselves, but Roy was something else. The first time he screams at you, you panic and lower your head. Then you understand it is for your own good. Now it is our turn to ensure the youngsters respect the rules, that they do the jobs given them.”

I am starting to think that he just isn't a regular starter. Playing match in, match out, over the course of a season, just does not seem to work for him.

Think he is trying too hard and looking burnt out and in need of a rest already.

As with others in our central midfield is also suffering from SAF changing the midfield pairing way too often this season, makes it difficult to build a decent understanding.

I really don't know what to think of Fletcher this season. It's almost like his head hasn't been in it. He doesn't look like the Fletcher who earned all that praise over the last 3 seasons.

Part of me wonders if he only gets that fire in his belly when his place in the team is threatened, or even when he gets demoted completely.

He's at an age now where he should be hitting his peak years, so it's weird to see him doing his impression of Benjamin Button.

He has always been a big game player - Played best in these games. That leads me to wonder if it is in his make up for complacency to set in. With carrick up and down, Anderson injured and scholes so old, he really hasnt had to work to keep his place in the team.

I think that is more likely than the personal problems suggested.

This isn't the place for it, but given his procedure and extended break and the form he showed after it and how long he'd been suffering with it, I think it is fair to say Carrick's achilles was actually the problem.
