Done. I noted Nik's deep ties to BVB. :D

Funny. Especially seeing that the waterboy at BVB is already a better player than ol' Nik ever will be!:laugh:;)

Not much happening today besides a test match and tacit confirmation that Blano is the transfer target.:)

Know very little about either player but it looks like Bakos stock is going up while Blanco' value is going down.

Of course, never seen either play but looking at the stats:

Bakos - 32 goals in 77 matches with Viktoria Plzen is decent. Quality side although Czech league is pretty weak. He scored 6 goals in 5 Champions League qualifying matches last year. Take that with a grain of salt though because probably 3 of those were against really poor opposition. He also scored two goals in the group stage though (against BATE). Seems to play only as a Mittelsturmer.

Blanco - 50 goals in 109 matches for AEK Athens. Seems his stock was quite high 2-3 years ago. Had a black-hole year last season. Went to a Mexican club and floundered, went to Legia Warsaw and floundered. Could be a steal if he simply had a bad year and could re-find his previous form. He is a bit shorter than Bakos and can play multiple attacking positions. I think he's the more preferable choice because it would be nice to have someone with flexibility who could drop deeper and play in a 4-2-3-1 (if Maurer ever gives up his 4-2-2-2).

Truly trying to avoid getting sucked in to the hype too early this term, but... Alas... I probably am too deep into the Kool Aid already.

Damn. He apparently cut down his Rakic-remembrance-hair !!!

Ismail Blanco, nickname "Zorro", joined the team today before departure to the training camp in Neusiedl am See. The Argentinian, who will get no. 18, signed a 2-year contract. Maurer is quoted they plan him to be back-up for Benny, but both on the field is also possible. Problem is he only speaks Spanish and a bit of Greek. Has got training deficit(as Makos who will join the team today) so having both on board today when the camps starts is precision work by Hinterberger. BTW both played together at AEK Athens.

Dont know what to think about him and Im not convinced about this transfer cause I never saw him playing before. With 29 he's not that kind of long-term perspective player I wanted to see.

Hinterberger's summer transfers seem to be completed now:

Moritz Volz(29), Left-back/Right-back -- St. Pauli -- no transfer fee
    Grzegorz Wojtkowiak(28), Right-back/Full-back -- Lech Posen -- transfer free
    Grigoris Makos(25), Defensive midfield -- AEK Athen -- 300.000
    Marin Tomasov(24), Right-midfielder/Right-winger -- NK Zadar -- 300.000
    Moritz Stoppelkamp(25), Right-midfielder/deep-lying forward -- Hannover 96 -- 200.000
    Ismael Blanco(29), Striker/forward -- transfer free

    ------------------
    Liridon Vocaj(18) Defensive midfielder -- 1860 U19
    Korbinian Vollmann(18), Left-winger/Right-winger -- Unterhaching(was on loan)

Stevic would have been proud of these East-European connection transfers. Anyway, it is expensive to get German players of a quality we need them.

Dude, you can't always sign the players you want for the long-term. Sign guys you need to get back to the 1. Liga to short-term contracts. Once you get back to the 1. Liga, then you have the flexibility to sign the "long-term perspective" players you want to see.

Not everyone can do what BVB has done with youngsters. Sometimes, the older players are the way to go. Especially when you can't afford the best young talents.

Hang in there man. If this works out and 1860 can get one of the top two spots, you'll see the players you want coming in............

Possible. 1860 will face Gladbach on 25th and Stuttgart on 29th. Two tough opponents even though they are far behind in season preparations.

Today, 1860 got a 0-0 draw vs. Austria Wien, who will start their season next weekend. Makos and Blanco(each of them played a half) had their first appearance in the line-ups.

They had two Suiss teams. But does not seem to be the case in future.

Well doesn't appear to be on Goltv's calendar yet. But I did find a show called "Shorthanded and offside: Tom Arnold in Munich".

Also, I think all of the moves have been pretty good save Zorro this off-season. I hope I am wrong about him but he was most recently unimpressive in the Mexican League and that does not bode well. Hopefully, I am wrong about that though.
