Oh, and my favorite liveblog post ever (from AJE):

6:09pm: No point any of our presenters trying to speak over the roar of Egyptians celebrating.

I'll believe he's actually gone when he's on a plane heading out of the country.

Perhaps in name and title. But I'm thinking right now the military is the institution that's actually in charge.

No, the military is in charge. Legally and de facto.

Only (edit: you) would try to score a domestic political point right now.

Ease up man. It's the only thing Marek knows.

Of course, I find it rib tickling hilarious that the Obama administration has handled this diplomatically (with plenty of credit to Hillary and Bob Gates) as well as they possibly could have (to the point of gaining vociferous criticism from IM -- always a sign of successful US policy) and Marek keeps chiming in with this tiny little blip where history came one day late. :D

    Two things -

    1. Egypt has liberated itself from Mubarak. Turning this now liberated Egypt into a free country remains the harder task. The world, and especcially the Middle East, will be watching.

    2. I'm really tempted to (try to) watch Glenn Beck today, because I'm really curious to see how wacked out and conspiratorial he is about today's events. But I'm not sure I have the stomach for Beck's nonsense and craziness.

The BBC just interviewed a protester from Tahrir who predicted that the next regime to fall at the hands of its disaffected young people will be Iran. He also mocked the Islamic Republic's previous congratulations to the people of Egypt for their striving towards an "Islamic" revolution.

    Egypt Erupts

I'm sitting here with my in-laws, who were in Egypt when Obama was elected POTUS. They say everyone was asking them if they were Americans, congratulating them, saying "Obama!" & giving them thumbs-up signs.
After all, they are politicians. "All things to all people"! :D

Really knave, this is how you want to reflect on something like this, by watching Glenn Beck?

jesus what has become of our citizens. Something absolutely and truly historical, a victory for people over power, and Conservatives want to use it to take potshots at Obama and Liberals want to get some vicarious thrill by watching Glenn Beck's lunacy?

For christ sake we've got some ********ed up values and priorities.
    1 people repped this.

    Re: Egypt Erupts

right, i'm not the one trying to hide the fact that the head of the CIA is using media reports to brief Congress about the major events taking place in Egypt

nothing to see here... please move on

and the Obama administration has done a great job of handling this, they have taken every position possible during this entire crisis

Now that the Egyptians are free, do you think one or two of them could pick a broom and try to clean the place up a bit? I've never seen a city as filthy as Cairo.
