No "R" in the title, so highlight to read:

Edu scored the equalizer against Sporting to send Rangers through on away goals in their Europa League tie.

    Way to go, Mo!!!

Now we can start a whole new argument about the best CM pairing in The US Central Midfielder Form Watch Thread [R]: Part II.

Why do the Rangers fans hate Edu so much? In the gameday thread there was a link to their forum and they all said he sucked. What gives?

Not all Rangers fans hate him. Of course he is going to get abuse though. He plays for Rangers and he was awful against Celtic in the last game.

As long he gets picked for every big game when he's healthy, I'm comfortable that someone out there thinks he's doing a good job.

There does seem to be a huge disparity between how the fans rate him and how the club rate him. The fans hatred is so intense that they are attacking Mo for his recommendation pf Edu to the squad. Can anyone explain this? The Celtic match is not the only explanation. Many seem not to rate him long before that.

Many people think his first touch is poor and he's just not a footballer. Being very fit can only take you so far. Personally I quite like him. But he needs to keep improving. He seems a bit injury prone as well.

He hardly gets any abuse! You should have seen the abuse Charlie Adam got when he was at Rangers.

I haven't seen anything that suggests to me there is a well of hate towards Edu. Scottish boards, especially club specific boards, are a different animal than Bigsoccer. Don't read more into them than you would a comment section after a news article. That said, Old Firm supporters tend to get annoyed by players who aren't excellent through some sense of entitlement. They direct that annoyance towards the owners and managers especially so that better players will be bought.

C'mon! Midfield is where Scotland is strongest. There is a lot of Scottish midfielders better than Edu.

Lafferty gets utter dogs abuse from the Rangers fan! Do you actually read any other forums?

I do not get this concept at all. I like Edu. If he leaves on good term then I will wish him all the best. If he leaves on bad terms or tries to screw Rangers over then f3cfk him.

It's like me starting to follow Birmingham when Fergie moved their from Rangers. No thanks.

Some of the people on here are very strange. It's like they totally ignore everything apart from the from what they want to read and hear. Plus using the race/nationality card for a team like Rangers is laughable. We've had foreign players nearly as long as Rangers have been going. Some are liked. Some are not. Funny enough the ones that are treated like god's are the really really good ones!

People think Edu (and all YA's) is getting screwed just because he's American playing soccer in Europe. When you add in the fact that he's a black guy playing in a notoriously racist country, you're just compounding the feeling of paranoia.

The Rangers forum posts are just evidence that some fans will cite to support the argument above.

Edit: I'm not saying that USMNT players do or don't get screwed in Europe just because they are Americans. Just saying that feeling of paranoia exists. Don't want to open up that can of worms :)

Can we leave the race thing out of this discussion. There's zero evidence that's even remotely an issue here.

There are some Rangers fans that don't like Maurice Edu as a player. So what? We don't have to get our panties in a bunch every time an American player gets some abuse.
