This is a break out year for Edu with Rangers honestly I kind of feel he is a bit better than M.Bradley that's just me. He has having a good start and hopefully stays fit throughout the year.

Rangers avoid Hoops for CIS semi-final, drawing Motherwell instead. Will be a "massive" disappointment if they don't make the finals. Hopefully, Edu will have to make mo room on the mantel for silver.

The correspondent on BBC Five Live said it looked like a "serious leg injury".

From Walter Smith's post match comments:

"Maurice Edu has a knock on the knee. We're not quite sure how bad that was. Obviously it'll take a day or two for it to settle down, till we know exactly how bad it is."

if this is a season-ender or close to it, it'll pretty much cement that idea/myth among BS posters that the SPL is full of butchers. not sure i'm inclined to disagree, either....

If this singular incident can cement a sweeping generalization about an entire league, then I would seriously question the average BS poster's tendency to be influenced.

Name me one league in the world where serious injuries don't occur on a regular basis? Should Holden not play in friendlies? Should Onyewu not play in WCQ? It's a man's game, despite what Jim Rome and the like would have us think.

But this is beside the point, our thoughts should be focused on the health of one of our best Yanks Abroad, not our own vendettas (and yes I'm guilty). Let's hope Mo's injury isn't as serious as suspected.

Caveat: I didn't see the foul.

But it sounds like he was hacked down, for the second time in about a year-and-a-half. That's pretty unacceptable.

Not sure how Gooch's injury is relevant, since it was a freak incident, no one cut him down.

Hibs are more a bunch of pencil necks than butchers. Who was responsible for the tackle (if that is what it was)?

To point out the failed logic.

Player gets injured in the SPL: It's the fault of the SPL.
Player gets injured in WCQ: It's the fault of WCQ.

Absolutely no evidence to support either claim.

If anyone can show me empirical data to support the claim that the SPL is a butcher league, than I will reject my position.

Until then, its really just unfounded conjecture.

while I agree the data on this injury is not in yet (unless there is a video clip), that is a needlessly reductionary analysis of his position.

I don't even know what you're trying to say, but I'll try and interpret anyway.

So the SPL is a butcher league because we say it is?

Or is it a butcher league because we feel it is?

Or is it a butcher league because we choose to highlight particular challenges that are quite congruent to challenges in leagues all around the world?

    THIS
That is at best not what he was saying and you know it.

The argument that was made, right or wrong, is that the frequency and severity of tackles is NOT congruent to other leagues. As you know. You frequently fly in to defend the SPL.

I wasn't responding to his sentiments alone, but rather to the general idea that many BS users have with regards to the SPL being a hack league. In my opinion, there is little to no difference in the general physicality of the SPL as compared to the EPL. The SPL is just lacking the overall quality of their southern counterparts, which makes the bad tackles seem more glaring.

But constantly hearing posters suggest that Edu "must get out of that butcher league" is excessive. Light weight players like Nakamura have succeeded in the SPL. Are we suggesting that Edu is more light weight than Nakamura? Is he too weak? Absolutely not.

You seem like a smart guy. If we want to criticize the SPL, lets criticize it accurately. Edu getting injured shouldn't damn the entire league.

And so do good ones. See, e.g., Essien, Michael and De Jong, Nigel.
