They are still negotiating. Mendez has accepted the Salary offer from Barcelona, but PSV wants to sell him in $3million US, and Barcelona wants just to Loan him, that is the problem right now. IF they can find a middle ground then Mendez will come back to Ecuador, otherwise he stays at PSV.

I think Mendez might get some motivation by being on the bench and having to fight for a place. He has always seemed to be the type of player that plays best in the big games, when he is faced with a challenge. Look at when he first started and had to prove himself at PSV, he played amazing ball. Now he has to prove himself again by winning back his midfield spot. Edison is a quality player whom I have observed over several years and based on what I've seen he is not producing at his usual level this past season at PSV.
Yeah, when I'm seeing him playing for Ecuador I'm impressed. He looks so great, but at PSV he sucks... Although he was quite useful for PSV last year. Big problems are his red cards, 3 in the last 6 months.

As far I knew PSV accepted Barcelona's offer, because Mendez wanted to go back to Ecuador for his sick mother. But Mendez wanted more money from Barcelona and he will stay till the end of the season..
