I agree. Definitely earning himself more looks, but hasn't shown anything to say he is better than TC or Fabian at international level. Decent first half at Azteca, but was targeted and allowed unmolested cross after cross in half two. Cameron and piss poor finishing bailed him out. Great to see another guy improving, but not there yet.
Didn't a blunder by Castillo cost Tijuana a goal in the first leg of the final? I think he's much more mistake prone than Johnson. But it's OK to disagree.......................
Castillo was panned in the Mexican media for his performance in the first leg and I wouldn't necessarily say he was directly at fault for Toluca's goal but he carries a large portion of the blame on that one. His performance in the second leg was much better though.
Johnson has commited at least two fouls--Guat and Russia--close to area that led to goals against. His play with Hoff this year has been up and down to say the least. Tijuana had one of the best defenses this season and Castillo was a big part of that. But I agree, its ok to disagree.
whoa. I wasnt saying this. I was putting Castillo up against Lichaj and others fighting for those back up spots. I think Castillo is cemented as back up right now if he continues this form.
Fabian > Lichaj > Castillo...but thats just my opinion and i know this has been debated on here for 30+ pages before
Depends what Klinsmann is looking for. I'd say if he's looking for an attacking left back, he'd put Castillo ahead of Lichaj. Lichaj, however, is a better defender in my view. Against CONCACAF competition looking to bunker, you might be able to convince me that Castillo is the way to go as the backup. Johnson is the best overall package.................
