I see. Well there you have it! Good finds! I knew Gomez one but he wasnt a locked in starter. He did help tremendously. I feel like it is more that Castillo is integral to the team. He is a staple on that side. when he went out you can see that they struggled a little bit. he makes an impact and has improved his play. deserves to be in every 18 for the USMNT from here on out if he continues this level of play. even if he wont beat out fabian but it is nice to have a quality back up.
I don't know about wrong but to claim that Leandro's injury didn't put Joe back into the lineup is misguided. Part of the reason Joe went to the bench was Egidio Arevalo Rios' dominating play as a CDM, which pushed Arce wide and put Enriquez in Joe's place on the left. Now that Rios is gone, Mohammed switched to two DMids with Arce and Leandro in the middle and Enriquez and Ruiz wide with Riascos and Moreno up top. Joe and Fidel Martinez were usually the first ones off the bench or alternating starting spots.
I see. Just misguided. Thanks for your info. You know your stuff!!! Glad that Corona is in a place with good competition. nice to see.
Joe is in a good spot. With Libertadores coming up, he'll have a chance to showcase his skills for any potential suitors.
Corona is a starter. Corona lost his place in the starting lineup after a couple of games of not making much of an impact but once the team started doing well, he got his spot back.
The question is whether Alejandro Guido can break into the team in the next year. There are a lot of good midfielders for the Xolos. It's gonna be tough..................
No he didn't. He didn't start back until Leandro got injured prior to a Leon game (forgot which 1st or 2nd leg).
Leandro is 35 and not a national team player. Joe Corona has 24 starts for Tijuana in 2012 despite being called up for almost every USMNT and U23 camp.
What are you talking about? He wasn't starting, Leandro was until he got injured in the Leon series. http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/story?id=1665300&s=mex&type=story When did they have a u23 camp this season dolt?
I said 2012, not this season, dolt. Leandro didn't get his spot back until Joe started missing games for friendlies and WCQs.
Bullshit. Leandro clearly outperformed him this season. How does a Camp in early 2012 have anything to do with him not playing in November 2012?
If Corona was so unimportant then why is there a pic of him on the front page of the Xolos website? Who cares if he didn't mean much to Mexico, he helped the US beat Mexico with USMNT and the US U23s.
what pic? post it in a friendly? Japan also beat Mexico in a friendly before the olympics, then they lost when it mattered just like the US was eliminated from the preolympic and was almost eliminated from the world cup wrong how? there are 5 mexican midfielders younger than 23 better than him 1. Hector Herrera 2. Carlos Peña 3. David Cabrera 4. Jorge Enriquez 5. Jonathan Dos Santos
Yep because an MFL title is more special than an olympic medal. Hundred and hundreds of Mexican players feel better know with the logic of the US men's perndog.
For those of you engaging the topic: thanks. For the few who are trying to turn this into a USA - Mexico rivalries thread: please stop. I've assisted you in that regard by deleting your posts and the posts of those responding to you.
