Why would they bring a B/C team? They don't have to play Euro qualifiers, and clubs in Europe are off this week.

why does that matter? all players were obvious picked to their national side because they are the best their country has produced. period.
B/C A there are 11 vs 11 ... Poland is hosting the Eurocup, so, it's common sense that their coach would combine the best 11 to get ready for it. :p

Poland has great players. I still remember the WC game we played against them. Ecuador had it tough, but were able to come out with a win.

I don't agree with that. I think we controlled most of the game. The fast pace suits us because we attack primarily on the wings due to the speed of our wingers and fullbacks. We haven't had a #10 since Aguinaga but we've always had good wingers, so it's just not our style to play a lot of passing in central midfield.

with a better defense, this would have been another 2-0. Our errors weren't huge errors. They were stupid errors. Clearing the ball in front of the box=dumb. and that awful attempt to clear the ball by Paredes=dumb. Poland didn't generate a goal from straight up attacking us. It was our retarded clearances that gave them the opportunity to score. We basically GAVE them those two goals.

b9d thanks for those rating. Glad to hear Dinamita played well, Ive always had confidence in Chucho so im happy to see/hear him play well while wearing the NT jersey. Its already established that Noboa's a Beats and good to hear Arroyo is developing just fine.

If You think that was the strongest lineup, well actually... no. The main reason in selection of this group was the possesion of US visa. In Poland there was a huge discussion why national team would fly to America when it wasn't best and it could affect players in Western Europe. But still, if we'll look up at lineups of the US game and Ecuador we'll see that there were only three changes in the forst XI - one because of weak Pietrasiak last game (he's not on the level for NT) and lack of Adam Matuszczyk and Jakub Błaszczykowski because their clubs wanted them to return, the two who scored in the game against USA. Not to mention that Błaszczykowski is the best Polish player at the moment. So not too much changed. But still, the play of Polish side in this game is considered as disaterous by almost all Polish NT fans.

What does this prove? Ecuador BASICALLY GAVE goals away throughout it history and definitely throughout the last qaulifiers that left them out of South Africa. Is your statement supposed to mean what exactly? Everyone expects for Paredes to make those mistakes but how about calling JAIRO CAMPOS out on the RIDICulous clearance? What is the first thing they teach you as a Central defender? Never ever never Ever never Ever Clear a friggin ball to the Center of the Universe. DUMBASS. MR BRASIL AND THE NEXT IVAN HURTADO.. The Next qualifiers are going to be the hardest so far since the SMELL of the South American sleeping Giant has appeared to have woken up...URUGUAY..

It was mostly their A team with a few players that usually play as subs - so essentially the A team's bench along with a few starters.

now when benitez finally starts scoring, we have a horrible defense. we're never gonna have a complete team. Once good defenders show up, we'll probably end up with no midfielders.

Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay seem to be the front-runners as of now....Colombia is bouncing back, Venezuela will not be a pushover (as recent history is indicating), and even Peru is making a resurgence...I don't know much about Bolivia having a solid shot, but Ecuador needs to play some really focused and consistent futbol during the qualifiers. No more conceding last minute goals, or making foolish mistakes, and we can't start the qualifiers like we did last time by losing 3 games in a row and conceding 11 goals. It killed us.

Uruguay is definitely looking strong though. With Cavani and Suarez they have two of the best young strikers in CONMEBOL. And Forlan should still be capable of magic at 33-34 years old.

However I think Paraguay won't be as strong this cycle. They do not have the quality they used to with Cabanas and an in-form Santa Cruz up front. Paraguay started going downhill the last half of the last qualifying cycle, but they did so well in the first half that they still had no problem making it.

It's a toss-up between the rest. The qualifiers are all about having one or two guys in top form that can carry the team. For 2002 it was El Tin and De La Cruz. For 2006 it was El Tin and Mendez. Hopefully if Benitez can stay in this form for just 3 years :))), Valencia gets back to normal, and guys like Montero, Caicedo, Ayovi and/or Guerron can step up with key performances we should be in there among the challengers.

I think this would be interesting to see. ;)

If somebody has a bunch of spare time, can you do an analysis of the last WCQ excluding the first 3 games? I bet we come out in like 2nd or 3rd place easily.

Under the circumstances, Ecuador played a solid game. The defense at times appeared to be weak but that has to be corrected. As for Guerrón, he has a long way to go because he is at no level to start in the National Team at this moment. Other players at this point could cover his spot. He might be a good substitute for now but that is it. He played better than the game he played vs Colombia but he needs to improve much more. "El Chucho" surprised me vs Poland. He scored two goals and he almost made a hat trick that would have been great. The best player of Ecuador vs Poland, "El Chucho". If Banguera keeps improving his level at the National Team, he could become the starting goalkeeper for the team. He had something to do in one of the two goals scored by Poland. As for Elizaga, his time for the National Team, I think it is over. Other goalkeepers should be taken in consideration before him at this point.

Well if that's the case. Hope we meet again in 2014 World Cup in Brasil and there aren't any Visa problems. Also, hope to have a full strength Ecuador side with Antonio Valencia our best player and Jefferson Montero another great player.

most national teams go thru that VISA problem when dealing with USA.

no one is ready to field an 'A' team until copa america o copa europea....is time to allow few faces and test them w/the rest of the grp.
