Rare to see an own goal like that. Bill Hamid just took Roy Miller off the hook. I think he was protesting that he got bumped.
e even if it was a PK Ponitus got a got on goal after the play from point blank range. You can;t get the advantage and then go back and ask for PK
Game over 1-1 a strange game in which the only goals scored for both teams were own goals. Simply put, its just not good enough. If we play in this uninspired and uncreative manner on wednesday we will be eliminated again. No hunger or killer instinct was displayed by this team tonight.
Yeah - was weird how gassed we looked - and acted like we just needed a draw which is a losing mentality
this offseason that should be our main priority. We need some athletes on this team, we are slow everywhere
Le Toux, Le Toux Le Toux.... how much longer can he ride the reputation from a solid 2010 season? His first touch is trash and his decision making in possession is just as bad.
Roy Miller needs to be taken out behind RBA and be put down. If he ever steps on the field for us again I will rip my eyes out. Andy Najar what a moron. Thank you. Wish we played better to take advantage of them being down a man. Would have been great to score and be up.
Robles was a beast. Major kudos to him for that performance. Najar just showed how immature he is. What a stupid and selfish thing to do. Decent result here. Obviously some lineup changes are needed for Wednesday. Considering the players on the field and it was at DC, getting out of there with a 1-1 tie is a good thing.
Anyone notice how ESPN completely ignores soccer now that they've lost contracts to Fox (World Cup), and NBC (MLS, CONCACAF, and EPL)? The Red Bulls just got a positive result in a playoff game and it's not even mentioned on ESPN NY over the past 30 hours. Both main NY sports radio sations (WFAN & ESPN) don't mention anything. It's really a frustrating joke.
I understand your frustration--but then again it isn't anything new. All MLS fans in this area have gotten used to the fact that we are invisible as far as the mainstream media is concerned. That's not going to change anytime soon. The Daily News has an article now and then, the NY Times has a tuesday soccer column in which the Red Bulls may or may not be mentioned. The only paper i know that really follows the team is the Star Ledger. Forget about major radio or tv. As far as ESPN goes--soccer was never given equal footing with the other sports in SportsCenter even when they did have the rights. Only every now and then would they put something at the tail end of the broadcast. The exceptions of course were the big tournaments like EuroCup and World Cup--those would get top billing while the tournament was going on. But normal league soccer like MLS or EPL? Only if something extraordinary had happened.
