    Snips:

The former East Kentwood standout and 2010 Michigan Mr. Soccer recipient has spent the past two months working out with a German soccer club overseas, hoping to make it on the sport’s grandest stage.

    ...

"The (Michigan State) coaches have been very supportive of me and have not ruled out attending MSU next year, due to the fact that things have not been finalized here," Catic said. "I’m very thankful for the fact that they have been patient and understanding of this process."

    ...

Without a contract, Catic can only play in friendly games for professional teams (he could not disclose which German club he’s working with, due to pending contract negotiations).

Evidently this had already been covered.

However, his citizenship was unclear to the person who covered it:

Five new players for the team (two from the U-19) and the article says he came the farthest.

No distance wise. I think they were trying to make a joke, but they are Germans so take that for what it is worth.

Trying to get a match report, but it looks like Catic scored 4 goals in the Kaiserslautern II's 18-0 testspiel win over ATSV Wattenheim.

Well, we know he can score against traffic cone defenders. Now, can he score against real talent? Hope he keeps doing well.

Has the question of his citizenship been resolved?

The club calls him an American in their articles, but their website, Kicker, and Transfermarkt have not updated the reserve sides yet.

I wouldn't go with Transfermarkt as an authority on citizenship. Kicker I am not sure about. Clubs are sometimes wrong as well but I tend to trust them.

Catic scored 2 goals in Kaiserslautern II's 28-0 win over SV Herta Kirrweiler. Game today against TuS Mechtersheim, which plays in the Oberliga.

That gives him 4 goals in the 2 testspiels, but they were against low division teams.

I don't, but it is a good resource to use in conjunction with others. Wooten is listed as American and German on Transfermarkt, but the club lists him as German.

    Still working on this.

I have been working on trying to verify whether Catic is an American citizen or not. It is clear he was born in Bosnia, but has lived for a significant amount of time in the US. All articles refer to him as an American, except the first one in this thread which casts his citizenship into uncertainty. The question is, have his parents become citizens? If they have, odds are that he is one since at that point it is just paperwork.

Short of sending him a message on Facebook, not what I want to do to an 18 year kid I do not know, I am know going to have to work my club contacts.

In the meantime, I found this news story from last year:

I cannot figure out how to embed this video, so if anyone is able to it would be most appreciated.

From a local article (Rheinpfalz News) match report of the Frankfurt game:

It looks like he played up top rather than as a CM.

A connection I have to the club said he only has Bosnian citizenship. This is not definitive and I am still going to be digging into it. Maybe yanks-abroad.com could do an interview and get a final answer.

Did not play in Kaiserslautern II's last testspiel. Not sure why, he played in all the others. He could be nursing and injury or it could be that Kaiserslautern played with only one striker and that is where Catic has been playing.

Season begins Aug 6 at home vs Borrussia Dortmund II.

Catic seems to be having muscle problems and is only being used for a short time.

    Club Article

The reserve side entered a brief training camp in Bad Wörrishofen a couple days ago. They play a friendly with Al Hilal Riad of the Saudi Arabian League today.

Good they updated it. Three weeks ago it just said Bosnian.

However, he has not been playing. I did happen to check the U19 match from this last week to since I think he is eligible, but he was not listed there. I now he picked up a slight injury at the end of training camp and the coach said he is not fit enough yet.
