I know that many of y'all already know this but there is a music scene that's closely tied with the Houston Dynamo Supporter Culture. There is even an independent record label by the name of Brickwall Records. I will try to post some information that pertains to this culture that has developed around the Houston Dynamo. Enjoy! If you're interested in supporting any of this music and want me get some of the albums listed on here. Do not hesitate in asking...I'll do my best to get some merchandise for those of you interested in supporting any of these local bands. I already spoke with a No Resistance member and he can get me a few copies of their stuff. Just let me know. All money will go to the band. *Important Link* https://www.facebook.com/brickwalloi?fref=ts El Batallon and members of Roots of Exile and No Resistance got together to make these songs: http://youtu.be/0T0O0tfUL30 http://youtu.be/Tgq5PrkkGcI El Batallon and Los Skarnales: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=069ROiwR1LQ El Batallon: https://www.facebook.com/LaBandaDelDynamo "La Cumbia del Naranja" This is an El Batallon based CD that has been floating around for years. The original CD has around 7 songs. All the songs are in Spanish and are versions of the songs that the SG plays during games. I don't know whether there are still copies left but a couple of tailgates ago they were being sold. El Matador: http://www.reverbnation.com/open_graph/song/13836157 No Me Vuelvo Enamorar: http://www.reverbnation.com/open_graph/song/13836090 El Negro Jose: http://www.reverbnation.com/open_graph/song/13836218 Que Calor: http://www.reverbnation.com/open_graph/song/13836052 No Resistance: https://www.facebook.com/pages/NO-RESISTANCE/115013588514752 http://www.reverbnation.com/noresistanceoi This punk band's first album is actually streamed on Spotify. The name of the album is "Gentlemen Prefer Bombs" and every member of the band is a Brickwall member. The album can also be purchased on Amazon but if you want me to hand deliver it at a tailgate please tell me and I'll get you a copy: http://www.amazon.com/Gentlemen-Prefer-Bombs/dp/B003TOL88W/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1343144153&sr=8-4&keywords=Gentlemen prefer bombs My personal favorite from NR: "Sanctioned and Proud" http://youtu.be/yta0fT6btKg "(I Just Want) Action" "Can't Reach Me" They're currently recording a new album, and all I have to say is that it's going to be their best one! Their first album has gotten decent reviews: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/385540_366895296659912_2122282250_n.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/545876_421931434489631_1744692948_n.jpg Roots of Exile: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Roots-of-Exile/182168478488759 This is a band who just released a new album by the name of "I Bleed Orange". If you're wondering if the name has anything to do with the Dynamo, well you clearly haven't been paying attention to this post. "This One's for Houston" "No One Likes Us" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLhKnxFJdWY "Few More Days" http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=aYSSgez47Ms Conflikto: https://www.facebook.com/conflikto.punkrock This Spanish Punk band is made up of members from El Batallon. They have only recorded a demo so far, but they play a few shows around Houston quite frequently. In fact, you can catch any of the bands featured here in Houston. "Conflikto" EB/BW Tailgate: Club Calavera: They're based in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and are made up of mostly Houston Dynamo and Rayados fans. They have a strong Brickwall connection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Url2wZAPnY&feature=player_embedded#! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CwwheNC8rc&feature=player_embedded *I'm adding to this a lot so make sure to re-read stuff every so often* Bad Behavior: This band is actually made-up of members of Brickwall: Houston and Brickwall: New York. That's right, there's a Brickwall New York. There are actually Brickwall members everywhere. I have a Brickwall New York shirt y'all will get a kick out of. I'll post a picture later on. Now I'm ranting here's more music: "Garbage on the Pitch" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV_f1kdKlGQ "Sanctioned and Proud" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2RzUo0g4rk&feature=related I'm probably missing a shitload of information, so I'll try to update this accordingly. I typed this up rather quickly. Enjoy!
I updated the above post, so if you haven't re-read it, please take the time to do so. If you know of any other stuff that should be posted here please do. I really wanted to have a record of all of this down somewhere. I'll be posting concert information and other stuff here, so please try to keep this alive. Don't let Dynamo Supporter Culture die. These are all independent bands and they can benefit from you attending a show or two and even purchasing some of their merchandise. I purchased "I Bleed Orange" for $10, and I vinyl of No Resistance for like $15.
If you want to have your kids pick up on a second language while they are young, purchase our CD of Dynamo Musica, play that and they will be singing Dynamo fight songs en español in no time!
A lot of the guys in the Journey Agents are Dynamo fans. Lead singer, St. Clair, often sports the Dynamo flat brim for shows. The drummer, Hector, is in my crew and I'm pretty sure is the tallest Mexican ever.
Like one of what? "I Bleed Orange" by Roots of Exile can be purchased by going up to Greg Wheeler, a bartender at Lucky's Pub, and asking for an album. I can get you one if you'd like, though. The No Resistance album I can get for you easily. The main guy lives a block from me. El Batallon's CD will be more difficult to obtain. You can probably get both No Resistance's album and Roots of Exile for around ~$20.
One of each. I'm all about checking out Dynamo supporter culture-inspired music. I know Greg - I'll talk to him about I Bleed Orange next time I'm there. And yeah I'd like to check out that No Resistance album since I don't think I've ever heard them before. What's the issue with getting a copy of the El Batallon CD?
I'll get you a No Resistance CD. I can take the NR CD for the RBNY game. Their newer stuff is badass. That new album is going to get released in August, and everybody should expect a decent concert out of it. I don't think there are any copies left. That's the issue. I'll ask.
Thanks Leo. This is helping me forget all about how you just called me a "******" on facebook about 20 minutes ago.
I called you a ball-boy or maybe Section 8 member, but I think they're all interchangeable. I technically said "Smafagink".
Conflikto will be appearing at The White Swan this Friday. Come on through and support a local band with Dynamo flair! https://www.facebook.com/events/103223749819409/ $3 is practically free!
Another band from Brickwall Records that's only two recordings away from releasing their first full length album. They're made up of the guitarist from No Resistance and the singer. This is nothing like No Resistance and instead of Oi! Punk it's more like electronic-alternative rock. This is the type of music you can chill to. Check them out! I present to you Saint Apes: http://www.reverbnation.com/saintapes *Yes, this will have a shitload of updates to it. I will not let this thread die. I want to show the MLS and our very own Dynamo fans that we have some sort of culture to be proud of.*
Just want to point out my Supporters Culture is different than yours but still about the Orange. Of course, my idea of rap is Synchronicity II by the Police.
Its funny. I always thought of Buble's version of "That's Life" as being an unofficial theme song for our Dynamo. Especially during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
I'm awaiting the new updated version of Houston Dynamo by Slim Thug with Paul Wall and Chamillionaire honestly.
Great Post!! Here are a couple of songs by Bad Behavior, which is a Brickwall band as well. Actually the original version of "Sanctioned and Proud" was a Bad Behavior recording, but since both members are also in No resistance it got re recorded for the new NA album, due out soon! "Garbage On The Pitch" "Sanctioned and Proud" And here is a track by SSSP from NYC it's a Blitz cover dedicated to Brickwall
I haven't updated this as much as I would have liked. However, in my first post I promised pictures of a Brickwall: New York shirt, just because I thought it was neat that we have some kind of support outside of Houston. Here are the pictures with the Virgin Mary accidentally pictured in one of them, yes, I'm that Hispanic: Front Back: No Mess. No Fuss. No Bulls. In other news, there will be a concert at Mango's on December 9th featuring No Resistance and Roots of Exile! Get your butts there to support Dynamo SG culture, the local music scene, and just to have an amazing time! The information is: Place: Mango's 403 Westheimer Rd. Houston, Texas 77006 Time: 8PM Bands w/ Dynamo connection: Roots of Exile and No Resistance All of this presented by Houston Dynamo's own Brickwall Firm.
