Stadium interview video clip

Oliver Luck was interviewed earlier today regarding tonight's Gold Cup match. During the clip, he was asked about the progress of the new stadium. He said the business points have basically all been agreed upon, and the lawyers of the Dynamo, City, and County are all currently working on getting the deal all done on paper.

Luck expects that the stadium deal will be finalized at the end of Summer, and construction would likely start at the beginning of 2010 at this rate. Summer or Fall of 2011 would be the projected opening date.

 

That is not good, yet another delay to the timeline . . . ugh.

 

That reminds me, they tweeted earlier today and I'm not sure if it's been posted here...

"Oliver luck will be on Channel 39 News with @JorgeVargas39 at 9pm talking about the Stadium, tune in if you are interested"

Interesting enough because I also made sure to contact them yesterday with similar response (nothing new to talk about). Like I said at the beginning of the season (when we were stinking up the place)--I can care less if we win anything IF the stadium gets finalized and construction started by the end of the season.
Got to say that if (given all this delay) they can still open by end of 2011 season that would be good. Would volunteer crews help? I can dig a hole, stack bricks...

 

I'm here to tell y'all that Construction will indeed begin late this Fall and our new Stadium will be up and ready for the begining of our '11 season.

Jorge Vargas interviewed OL on 39 news last night too, it was a clip of an 11 minute interview that's online here: http://www.39online.com/sports/local/. He says pretty much what he said on 26, but what I liked on the broadcast version was after he ran the tape, Jorge said "OL has the patience of Job but I don't, I want that stadium done NOW." That's the first time I've heard a broadcaster besides Glenn say something like that.


Actually the 39 interview is fantastic, you should watch it, they cover a lot of good stuff about the stadium as well as the training facility and some other stuff. Two thumbs up.

Sylvia Garcia made a public appearance today in Baytown to announce a project sponsored by a large corporation and our Dynamo to refurbish Harris county parks' soccer facilities. She had a great time w/ Dynamo Deisel and smiled for the cameras.

Aaah Sylvia, such a delight! So warm and cuddly. Cum by ya.

If you saw Jorge Vargas' interview with Oliver Luck that I mentioned back last week (it's still on the site, but you have to scroll over to the next set of videos: http://www.39online.com/sports/local/) and want to write to encourage him, his adress is jorge@39online.com. I couldn't find his email so I wrote to the station and told them to forward my thanks to him. He wrote back a couple of days ago and said he likes to do at least a Dynamo piece a week, and he thanked me for my thanks. He closed by saying "let's hope we get the stadium deal done soon!"
If you liked his interview, you should write him to encourage more soccer and Dynamo attention....

O.Luck said on Soccer Matters that the County will likely have the stadium on its agenda on July 28. Finally, for the love of all that is good and holy, let's get this done.
