You mean the second high school game at BBVA? I didn't know Rob held anything the night before the UH/Texas State game.
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...-bob-marley-and-top-10-soccer-stadium-statues we need a statue. Maybe when we win CCL and get the team gets a share of the prize money. The MJ at Fulham always struck me as odd-I know the backstory, but I never understood the selling of MJ merchandise in the team shop.
I didn't think the pitch looked bad from where i sit, but when i saw the highlights, i think i saw some lines on the field..... err idk.
Field was tore up in spots but you didn't see the lines when you were in the stadium. I noticed I could see them on the stadium screen.
FYI, in the new maps app that Apple put in the new iOS6 software, they have an updated map with a completed BBVA Compass Stadium on the satellite, with the ability to view it in 3D (as 3D as you can get with a 2D display). Soccer lines on the field.
Grass was a little worn out on the flanks from where the gridiron dudes stand on their sidelines. I saw just one faded 20 yard marker and a bit of a faded endzone but I will testify to how good our grounds crew appears to be. Our field looks ok after all the use since opening in mid May.
I noticed last night-that in addition to the normal field chew up, that there was a lot of sand kicking up on hard plays, something I had never seen before here. I am not an expert on the grasses down here nor the new stuff they have at the stadium, but it has me concerned that all of the throwball might be digging up the roots that still haven't firmly taken. This might be something to keep and eye out for in the next four weeks during our stretch run.
beat me my post by ten seconds. Anyway-I was at meet and greet with Rico last week and stayed after the match. I got to see how they do things post game. Really pretty interesting. They cut it real short and it looked like their tractor also rolled it after cutting it. The field really looks a great an hour after the match.
bigger issue is the small cold front we just had roll on through. Bermuda grows optimally at 150 degrees combines (Night and day). The 50 degree temps at night are basically stopping the grass from recovering quickly and growing out the work patches and the football lines. Could be interesting in the fall.
I saw a lot of sand last night splashing up during the 5 minutes I watched the TSU game. I figure the rain tomorrow will tamp it down a bit.
There were some spots where the roof leaked last night. Not a lot, but you could see large drops of water periodically falling from the roof. I saw the leaks over Section 205. One was falling on an uniccupied seat. The other was falling on that club patio area just below most of 205. I don't know if there were leaks elsewhere. Hopefully, they'll fix that sort of thing. It was still obviously much better than having no roof.
towed-I was actually in the lot a few weeks ago during the day. They had flatbed trucks towing unattended cars out there.
Love the picture that went along with this article about EaDo or East Downtown near the stadium: That really was the picture in the paper today.
That article is about east downtown, not East Downtown. EaDo is on the east side of 59. All of the things in the article including the bus stop pictured are on the west side of 59. Only the brown area in this picture is EaDo.
So the homeless don't cross 59? Or we shouldn't infer that homeless are out there? If you are making a point of information, fine. But I don't draw much of a distinction between one block on one side of 59 to the other. The point was I couldn't believe the Chronicle put a homeless picture in an article talking about how things were growing in the East whatever!!
