I sat and watched the whole of that sorry excuse for a football match last night. Premiership = the best league in the world. Yeah, good one... Anyhoo... After the final whistle Sky interview Paul Robinson and Phil Jones. The keeper then proceeds to hand over the MotM award to the youngster. Happy days thinks I. He had a very good game and must surely be worth some sort of bonus pts on FF. I should really know better by now. I can appreciate Robinson getting the 3pts but Gamst Pedersen grabbing 2pts for throwing the ball very far...?!!? And how did Turner get a point when they were up against 10 men for more than half of the match? [/rant over]
Taking a couple of risks today. Hitting the road soon so after another review of this mornings football news I've decided to plump for Charlie Adam as my skipper this weekend. I think he'll start and with his current form and Wolves defensive worries I think he'll score well. As long as he starts... And I've stuck Rooney in. I know he's probably going to be on the bench but I get the feeling if he comes on everyone will be trying to set him up for a goal and if he doesn't get on then no harm done. I'll see how it goes. Fingers crossed and all that.
I'm just gutted that after captaining Rooney he only had two assists. I was hoping for three or four and a bonus point or two.
Only 9 players starting... Captain gets taken off injured after 30mins... Only player likely to score above 5pts gets sent off... Three words... DIS-AS-TER
Ouch. And the old Fantasy Football headache of having a defender and an attacker on opposite teams matching up against each other. Still, on a totally different note, I got to see the Raiders sweep the Bolts tonight so it wasn't all bad this weekend.
Ferdinand - 6 Sagna - 2 Boateng - 2 Konchesky - 1 ... Salcido - 6 But of course the latter was on the bench and of course none of my strikers featured so he cannot even be automatically subbed in.
You bastard. Just an update. Last week I finally made double figures and now have 11 goals from 10 different forward players this season! My midfield output has taken a hit recently which is not helping my cause. Nani has been injured, Fabregas and Nasri have not been picking up points, neither has Silva and no-one is converting anything Barton creates. For whatever reason they also avoid picking up bonus points despite creating numerous chances and being denied by great saves even though they are generally rated as key performers everywhere else. With my forward line being consistently shit I might have to call on that wildcard soon.
Rant time. Where the hell is Kolarov's assist for Vieria's goal!?! It looks like its been given to Lescott. Bloody FPL is getting worse. Since when does Lescott take corners...?
Did you see it? After the corner was clear, the ball came back out to Kolarov, who rifled in a low driven ball. It deflected off Lescott, and then deflected off Vieira, and then went into the goal. Not sure that either Lescott or Vieira had any idea what happened to be honest and both were just the beneficiary of being in right place at the right time, but I think they got the scoring correct. Mind you, I could have used a Kolarov assist in one of my worst week's of the season, so fight on. And, don't ever let the facts get in the way of a good rant!!! Now that Roger Johnson assist from yesterday is a different story. He didn't even get a touch.
I did see it yes. But you can't seriously tell me Lescott deserves an assist for that...? The deflection hardly even changed the trajectory of the cross. And yes, you are most certainly correct. Facts aren't considered when I'm ranting at FPL.
Lescott deserves an assist as much as Vieira deserves the goal -- i.e., very little. Lescott was at least arguably trying to play the ball. Vieira simply was in the right place to have the ball ricochet off him (in my view). Did Lescott's touch change the trajectory? It doesn't matter. An attacking touch is an attacking touch. And, given the pinball action that followed off Vieira's thigh, who's to say that even a small change in direction doesn't make all the difference in terms of a ball going in and ball not. Was it Dzeko or Silva a few weeks ago who was literally trying to get out of the way and had the ball skim off his rear end for a goal? BUT the real question having just pulled all the scores for the eliminator cups, why are you ranting at all when you have the top score in rocks? A 79 isn't good enough for you, you greedy ...?
That was Silva. And I would say it was an audacious finish by the little Spanish genius. And yes, before you ask, he is on my team. Every goal/assist is worth its weight in gold in the knockout stages of the Golden Boot tournament.
I never properly thanked you for that. Thanks Teso. * I still have 6pts to be deducted from me at the end of the season *
