I read a report that his salary at Shenua is 14.9 million a year; no team in MLS is spending that type of money on any player at this point. I don't even think that you would come close to recouping your money on Drogba even with an increase in ticket sales, gear, and advertising. That is a LOT of money to shell out on one player (that is the total salary of the top 3 highest earning players in MLS combined).

...and I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I drink Dos Equis. Stay thirsty, my friend.

Drogba isn't worth anywhere near the 15 million dollar range. And I would love to see the Fire go after Shevchenko or that Greek forward whose name slips my mind.

Shevchenko announced he was retiring after Ukraine's last game.

The Greek forward is Dimitris Salpingdilis. Last I heard he re-signed with PAOK.

Salpingdilis is who I was thinking. Did he stay with PAOK? I thought I heard he was still available but i'm not sure. Shevchenko sounds like he's only done with playing for the Ukraine. But still will play club ball. He recently stated that he'd like to play in MLS.

I half jokingly suggested Shevchenko in another thread. According to this, he is out of contract in June
    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/andriy-shevchenko/aufeinenblick/spieler_3522.html

So no transfer fee? If his salary demands are reasonable, I don't see a reason not to try to give it a shot on a 1-2 year contract. Too old in my opinion to get much more production than that out of him though, so I probably wouldn't even offer Keane money for him.

Salvatore, this was my thinking as well. He's expressed interest in playing in MLS. Plus, MLS teams have pretty much never gone after guys that will demand a transfer fee. I have to believe a few MLS teams will make a pitch for him. I'm hopeful the Fire are one of them.

I think Sheva makes about $3mil a year.
    He's 35.
I'd value him at $800k/year but it won't be for less than $1.5m.

He's going to be 37 years old. You think he's going to be asking 5,000,000+? If so, anybody that takes him for that amount good luck.....

Why should we wait until these guys leave their clubs? Andrew must shell out for Rooney and Messi RIGHT NOW or he's a cheap ass motherf-er and we'll never win anything!

    Yes, that was parody.

    Drogba is leaving Chelsea?

I thought Chelsea Clinton married some other guy about a year ago?

I'm with you. I would welcome the move, but that is a huge price tag, so I certainly wouldn't expect Andy to do something like this.

Andy wouldn't go after him if he'd take Keane money (3-4 million).
