Re: Down goes Hughton We had him for a while and he took us up from Div 2 to Div 1 but still wasn't particularly likes while here. His 4-6-0 formation against Forest one year has gone down in folklore!
Re: Down goes Hughton I think this is the last straw though. Nobody had forgiven MA for the debacle that sent us into the PL, but we were all on that path. He was quietly getting things right without attracting attention. We were on a small budget, but it wasn't nothing. He stuck with Chris, gave Andy a solid deal and looked generally like he had learned something. Now, it's all gone down the train. Everyone knows we should have expected as much, but it's still mind-boggling and it hurts. It hurts a lot. The scariest part about relegation was the possibility of becoming the next Leeds. I'm just as scared today as I ever was. Originally I was placing an order for Newcastle gear for X-mas from the club. I held off because I was scared something like this would happen, and I refuse to give my money to that fat ass owner. Nonetheless, I am B&W for life. Ashley is going to die before me (I hope) and his fat ass daughter, well if she's ever in charge I'll take one for the team and go ******** her and get control.
Re: Down goes Hughton Oh the possibilities for that ********. So, many entertaining things that that could represent. Disturbing things as well.
Re: Down goes Hughton Ashley is quickly becoming the "Al Davis" of the prem. The good thing is both men's life expectancy is aprox the same. Also, Pardew is going to stunt Carroll's growth just like he did Tevez and Mascherano... sucks
Re: Down goes Hughton Are you serious? The two are nothing alike. Davis started out as a coach and GM before he ever owned a team and then was instrumental in the AFL forcing a merger with the NFL. His teams have won five championships over the years. In the nearly 50 years he's been involved with the Raiders they've had only a dozen or so losing seasons. At least when he gets involved in team affairs he comes from a certain level of experience and knowledge. He was also inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame nearly two decades ago. Al Davis has been the coach, general manager, and/or owner of the Raiders for 94% of their existence. No one can claim that for Newcastle. The two are nothing alike, and the situations are near to nothing alike. Yeah, they've had a coaching merry-go-round recently, but the perspective and decision making behind it is completely different than Newcastle's. I'm not sure why you think Ashley being like Davis is a bad thing. Are you a Chiefs fan or something?
Re: Down goes Hughton He meant the senile Al Davis we've seen for the last 10 years or so that has made one absurd decision after another and keeps talking about "the greatness of the Raiders" even though they've been utter shite since he ran Chucky off.
Re: Down goes Hughton I proposed this whole thing was a multigenerational Mackem revenge plot some time ago as a joke. Now, I'm really starting to think it's the most plausible explanation.
Re: Down goes Hughton It will be interesting to see if at the unveiling, someone has the 'nads to ask "And how is Mr Pardew's experience taking a team down from the top flight (and leaving before it went down some more...) prefered over the last Manager's experence of taking a team up from the Championship?" and questions in a similar vien. If MA/the Club would just detail thier logic and stand behind it you could almost respect them as merely stupid; rather than stupid, inept, dishonnorable, dishonest, self-delusional, and bumbling. I read somewhere Tisdale was in the frame at one point. You could respect that they had a plan if they brought him in on a 5 year deal and backed him to the hilt. It would be stupid timing, but it would be a long term plan with someone who might actually be a step up. No way to tell of course how that biscuit would taste until you had actually eaten it. I can't switch the club I support. I just wish I could be proud of it.
Re: Down goes Hughton Thanks Tiger!! City Dave must be related to him. The second and more recent of the two Al Davis' is whom I was referring
Re: Down goes Hughton No, I just haven't been watching football too closely over the past few years. My bad.
Re: Down goes Hughton It's acceptable to make a mistake about American Football. And this is why I hate the "free market" and Mike Ashley http://www.spectator.co.uk/business...k-owner-is-a-lot-smarter-than-he-looks-.thtml Just because you can afford to do this shit, you get richer.
Re: Down goes Hughton If they are going to fire someone as good as Chris, they have to then bring in a big name, someone who has won trophies. And that doesn't even mean he will necessarily be better. If they just bring in someone similar, it's a joke. -- Jose Enrique Hughton - 1 Football League Championship trophy Pardew - 1 Johnstone's Paint Trophy A tie at 1, but Chris has the better kicker. I don't expect to give the new man credit for anything that goes well through the end of the season. A 6th - 17th place is expected. A victory on 16 Jan. is expected. He can only do what CH was going to do anyway, or he can screw it up.
Re: Down goes Hughton 5 1/2 years...who in their right mind gives a manager 5 1/2 year contract! Micky Quinn has just come right out on Sky Sports and said he only got a contract that long because he's a mate of Llamaface.
Re: Down goes Hughton Well obviously it makes sense to sign him up for as long as possible, SAF will be retiring reasonably soon and you don't want Man Utd stealing him away to be their manager. He's been in demand since he was sacked from Southampton... Also clearly there's no problem with signing someone up because they used to frequent your casino... everyone knows Wenger got the Arsenal job because he was always in the bookies in Islington. If Llambias used to run a bar we'd probably have Gazza. A shiny fiver to the first person to confiscate Llambias's crack pipe and bring it to me.
Re: Down goes Hughton Wow. Pardew has a longer contract than Jose Mourinho. Must be nice to have friends with too much money and shit for brains.
Re: Down goes Hughton I've been waiting until they appointed someone to make a comment. Now that I know, I fully expect relegation this year. I fully believe Hughton would have had us mid table at the end and for most around here that would have been a success. This club....
Re: Down goes Hughton Klinsmann to NUFC Great for a laugh! http://www.sportingpreview.com/prem_news/10110329.php?goback=.gde_58614_member_36993112
Re: Down goes Hughton Har. That doesn't even begin to be credible as anything other than a "this is outrageous, click me so we get ad revenue and maybe someone falls for our "guaranteed profit betting strategy" plans too!
Re: Down goes Hughton Maybe there should be a new thread for this phase of the debacle... Jose Enrique said that unless a big name manager came into replace Houghton, this appointment would be a joke. Well, Pardew is not a big name. So should we anticipate Jose out? Our only Left Back, one of this year and lasts top performers? Or, maybe we should just expect a dip in form from him as Houghton clearly was getting the best out of him and the new man is, in Jose's mind, a step down. If Jose goes, you would expect the average housewife to know that a LB should be brought in. Take the leap and give pardew the credit for being that sharp. Whats available? Jonathan Bornstien?
