I renewed my tickets before they dropped the two CCL games and before they gave us the home opener for free...the price was never really a concern for me, I wanted my live soccer fix.

That said...my bro-in-law who is a very successful Bay Street broker has had tickets in the highest priced BMO seats since day one decided not to renew. It has nothing to do with price...to be honest he doesn't even know/care how much his seats are, he doesn't have a clue about the supporter backlash, price drops, etc, etc.

He decided to cancel because his clients could really give a shit about going to BMO anymore. They came to games season one and two, but now it's a simple "no thanks" whenever he tries to give them away.

I know that this conjures up the image of a bunch of suits that hang out at the ACC lounge for Leaf games and came to check out the "new kid on the block" and quickly got bored. Not the case...yes, for the most part these are very well heeled clients but also hard core soccer fans first. In fact, several of his clients have EPL season tickets and live in Toronto! Spend the month of June this past summer in S. Africa watching the WC live. Fly to Europe for mid-week EUFA CL games. etc...

From what I gather these are soccer fans that can afford the best and don't want to settle for second (or in the case of MLS, third or fourth) best. And to be honest, I don't blame them. If I could afford to catch 1-2 games a month in England or Spain I wouldn't go to very many MLS games either.

I don't know where I'm going with this post, but just thought I'd share. We live in our little TFC supporter microcosm and just wanted to provide another angle to the low renewal rate...that it's not just "too expensive" and "MLSE/TFC management sucks". It's the product.

To quote my grandfather (god rest his soul) the first time we watched a TFC game together..."I haven't seen anything this bad since the Blizzard".

Real supporters dont wine about the tickets or the product..TFC isnt a product its a way of life. ITS MY HART AND SOLE!!!!!

Looking at his personal profile, the fat ugly troll hasn't logged in for two weeks now. Just as he was as Lord_ofthe_FC, I don't think we'll see TFC_MLS_2007 again. Unless he creates another sockpuppet account under a new username, like King_TFC_Douchebag.
