I'm on the Everton boards as well as I also support that team - the surmise is that it's coming. They'll need time to get it together. Most likely? Beginning of Jan.
Another award for Landon: http://www.lagalaxy.com/news/2010/12/donovan-wins-mlssoccercoms-us-player-year Plus an article about his decision not to take a loan. Alright!!! http://www.lagalaxy.com/news/2010/12/landon-donovan-forgo-loan-opportunities-ahead-2011-mls-season
ESPN Los Angeles puts LD on the short list of nominees for their LA athlete of the year: http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/news/story?id=5964271 I suggest you guys stack the poll (link at the bottom of the page). If you really want to stack the poll, you might want to vote Kobe last. (LD is currently running second to him.)
Well, for whatever it's worth, he's also in the running for SportsNation's "Awesomest Dude of the Year" http://es.pn/ey5hZ1 He's actually winning that one at the moment.
Judging from the desperate tone of his tweets, someone will need to talk him off the ledge if he doesn't win this thing.
Ron Artest was by far the most awesome dude. He wore his game clothes for like two straight days after winning the NBA Finals.
Thanks Berks! www.followtonians.com or search Followtonians on iTunes it is episode #27 Eric Co-Host The Followtonians Podcast
That was a great interview! You guys did a good job, and it seemed like he really wanted to talk about his decision not to go. It was great to hear.
Thanks ghosting. We were both really nervous. But yeah he really seemed to want to just spill his guts out. He made it really easy on us.
Should not be a surprise to anyone. Congrats LD on #7 (and 4th in a row): http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/soccer/post/_/id/5521/landon-donovan-wins-honda-award-…-again
Unless Donovan turns out to be a puppy-rapist or something, when he retires, the USSF really should reconsider naming it the Donovan Award. Or, more realistically the [Sponsor] Donovan Award. Dude's won that thing a lot of times and has made a real contribution to US soccer.
4 years of world cup qualifying and finals, and four years of Honda awards. It's an incredible accomplishment, really.
Donovan excited to return to the pitch http://sports.yahoo.com/mls/news;_ylt=Asa.ElgBNPHsY6a8FQ4IHGqkvrYF?slug=ap-mls-galaxycamp
Bloomberg Power 100 list : http://images.businessweek.com/slideshows/20110124/power-100-2011/slides/41 Why he's on the list: Amid growing awareness and passion for soccer in the U.S., Landon Donovan is the American player leading the way on the field—at the 2010 World Cup—and in off-the-field sponsorships. The Galaxy was bumped from the playoffs earlier than expected but Lando took home the silver boot for most assists in the MLS season.
Interesting, he made $7 million last year. And apparently he played for AC Milan, too. I was unaware of that.
How could you miss that Kickin? He was awesome over there, especially that hat-trick against Juventas! Too bad he got in that fisticuffs with Inzhagi over who was to pay for the cannoli or he would still be over there.
Donovan is a slothful bum who hates America: http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/donovan-may-skip-us-egypt-friendly-february
Honestly, he should avoid USMNT games until the Gold Cup. Give the young guns a chance to prove themselves, save the wear and tear. It's not like the core of the team isn't very familiar with each other from the World Cup cycle. But the Gold Cup means a chance at the Confederations Cup in 2013 as well as a crack at Mexico in the final, possibly.....
