Ya, as someone who wanted him here (and probably still would be happy if he did came) I am now kinda sorta happy we did not get him in the end... mainly because of the bloody price those classless cu*ts put in front of us.
As rewinder, and others have posted, I now think I'd be just as happy if we just saved the money for the next coach. Given how thin the squad is, spending big on Suarez, who I would have liked in more ideal circumstances, is not really going to pay any dividends.
Actually, no I don't. I know plenty of foreigners who live in the UK, became citizens and still have their original accents. I live overseas, was born in the UK, and still have my UK accent and people understand me fine. So yeah, your life experiences make universal absolutes... heh...
Wenger has said tonight there is "absolutley no chance" Arsenal will sign Suarez this summer. We all knew it but good to be confirmed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23790314
Val, when you say "Money for the next coach" do you mean money to pay him with, or money for him to spend? I hope the latter.
I'm just back from 2 weeks vacation, out of touch with the silly season. If this is true, I exhale a deep "phew". [Edit: I just tried to open that link but it didn't work. Didn't find any reference on BBC Sport about Wenger saying Saurez deal is dead. Are there any public confirmations of this? I haven't waded into the transfer thread for a week or two, so I'm probably staying away from that morass!]
Anelka led to Henry. And as I recall, we could (nay should) have won a back to back to double that season. We hardly "didn't challenge" back then.
Heard a rumor that Wenger wants to redouble his efforts to get Saurez in January. And I thought this was over! Ai-yai-yai-yai-yai.
I hearby officially retire this poll. At least until January?! The final tally was 102 votes: 48 for signing him & 54 against. Actually if you factor in Tex's mistaken vote it'd be 47 to 55. Still, damn near close to a 50/50 split... definitively divisive.
No, because of his discipline. But knowing Wenger, in case he comes next transfer window. He can prolly change him
I am starting to be convinced that Liverpool will be better without Suarez than they are with him. Without him they at least try to pass the ball around and wait for an opening, while with him they try to feed him with everything and their attack becomes predictable like hell.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/sp...rpool-captain-Luis-Suarez-in-cheeky-snub.html THIS. Completely LMAO... only wish I'd noticed it live. And scroll down on this article and you'll see the same trick was played on Gerrard. You gotta wonder if this little girl's snub didn't, in some little way, spur Saurez on to a match of unabashed offensive brilliance. The guy is oozing talent at moment. Plus his teammates & coach do seem to like him. Still I'm happy to never see his deviant, cheating antics in an Arsenal shirt.
In light of Suarez performances this season and his rather pretty exemplary attitude on the field, I thought it could be a good time to bring this thread back to the front page. A lot of Gooners here voted against him coming to the club. Did any of you have changed their mind? If yes, how much the club should pay to bring him in (hypothetical question)? I did vote yes to Suarez and I am still bitter at LPool and John Henry for basically not respecting the terms of LZ contract. Personnally, I can not think of any player that would / could instantly change our status to pretender to contender. If Arsenal could drop 55 to 60 M to get him, I would be absolutely fine with that. (unlikely to happen though). PS. It was fun reading the comments here. Some were rather prescient.
