We're selling Diniyar Bilyaletdinov for a fee thought to be around £5.5million, so we have a little bit of cash to play with. We're trying to gain Manolas for around 1 million.

from what i have read, the 5.5 mil will be in disbursements. 2.5mil on the outset of the transfer and the remaining over X time frame.

I can't verify, but that info has been reported by a few of the english rags

Hopefully Everton can use this money as well as some of the money we got for Arteta to sign Landon Donovan to a long-term contract.

All in all, I think he's been our best player in 2012 thus far.

According to the Guardian, Everton expect to complete the signing of striker Nikica Jelavic on Tuesday (Jan. 31) after having an improved offer of around £6m for the Croatia international striker accepted by Rangers.

I'm not familiar with Jelavic, but his scoring numbers are pretty impressive.

Per Wikipedia, Jelavic has scored 30 goals in 45 matches with Rangers. Prior to joining Rangers, he scored 25 goals in 70 matches with Rapid Vienna. He has 17 caps with Croatia, and has scored 2 goals for them.

If Jelavic is a goal scorer as his numbers imply, after Donovan leaves, who is going to get the ball into the box for Jelavic to score? It's great that they spent money on a goal scorer, but they also need MFs to link up with the front line and send in crosses. It could not have been more obvious what Everton lacked before Donovan got there and what he provided in the Fulham game.

It'd be nice, though I think unlikely - Pienaar's on the bench for Spurs tonight...

Jelavic has signed a 4 and 1/2 year deal.

So it'll be interesting if this leads to a Saha and/or Pienaar loan.

Pienaar would be nice, but don't think so - he's in the 18 for Spurs tonight, so I would be VERY surprised if he loans out. Though, if they pulled him from the bench sometime in the second half... ;)

GOBSMACKED ABSOLUTELY HAPPILY GOBSMACKED I AM!

I really didn't think it would happen when Pienaar was named to the 18 for Spurs - if they hadn't named him, it would have been a clear signal.

Saha for Pienaar (roughly) - I'll take that deal any day of the week.

Louis Saha has some nice things to say about Everton and Moyes:

I'm sorry to see Saha leave the club, but hopefully he can break his scoring slump, stay healthy, and play well for Spurs.

Of all the strikers we've had the past 15 years, Saha was my favorite, only surpassed by Big Dunc.

I really liked Saha too. He is always up beat and positive on twitter. he really did work hard when he was healthy, and I think he showed the younger strikers (vic i'm looking at your "ialmostbecameasuperdiverjackass" butt) how to be a proper professional about stuff.

On peanuts, I can now officially re-take-up my "running while pointing like stevie p" trick to help me get through the toughest part of a jog. it always made me smile.

Watch him, he always points when he runs :D

Louis Saha's off to a bright start with Spurs, helping lead them to a 5-0 win over Newcastle:

Everton seems to have bad luck lately with forwards -- it seems the best way for some of them to break out of their scoring slump is to join another team. :(

I absolutely blame the coaching staff for that. Moyes is constantly pushing defense first. We should go out and slaughter some of the "lower" teams, instead we sit back and defend.

Yes, defense is very important, but you will never win unless you balance it with an attack. :(

All the best to king louis. He is a class act on and off the pitch.
