I agree with your observations about that photograph. I'll bet that it was taken using Kodachrome 25, IMO, the greatest color film of all time for its sharpness and true color representation. If it was a large format camera it would explain
^^ That is an awesome shot. I've been meaning to get out to Zion... I'll be in Yellowstone for the first time in early September--can't wait for that. So I never did see that falcon, but I know he's around somewhere because I'm still burying birds. I did get a shot of this bee and this seagull:
As opposed to jello shots? haha jk. Beauties, those flowers. What kind are they? I'm glad to see you've joined in on the fun. Everyone likes to share their work, or should, anyway. It's nothing but fun.
Nice flowers, looks like you didnt have much light to work with, always makes it tough to get great flower colors but you did a great job. We actually a couple nice days in Pdx with probably 2 of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen here, grabbed some pics of them from my apartment: SunsetPano by PdXBenedetti, on Flickr The moon started creeping into view at the end of the sunset, but there was still an incredible amount of color in the sky: Moon Sunset by PdXBenedetti, on Flickr Then the next night we had another nice sunset, I wasn't thrilled with my pictures (was trying to bracket and possibly do another pano but it just didnt come out right) so I made this HDR; Sunset HDR by PdXBenedetti, on Flickr
Thanks everyone. I have no idea what the flowers are. They were just some flowers in a garden in Murray park. Cool sunset shots UP. Here's one I took of a sunrise. Clouds by Planet Aero, on Flickr
The bottom flower is a daylily. Not sure about the top one. I just discovered this thread. I think I'll have to add a few photos of my own sometime.
Okay, okay.. it's not masterful photography, but it's always fun to share this one. RSL practicing in Vineyard, Utah in April 2007.
Again, not masterful photography. I know the lighting and color leave something to be desired, but I've always loved how the composition of this photo turned out.
oh the wonders of photoshop: TommyWheelEdit by PdXBenedetti, on Flickr cute kid and great job on the composition.
Had a pretty good rainstorm last week, noticed the water looking interesting on the top of my grill, so I figured what the hell. Here's a couple of the shots, there's a few more in my photostream: Rain by PdXBenedetti, on Flickr Got lucky with this little drop right before/after impact. Rain 2 by PdXBenedetti, on Flickr
The robin bird is eating some seed (you can see a piece of seed at the tip of its beak). As far as the black and red bug with wings...I have no idea what it was which is why I took a picture of it. Very odd looking thing. He hangs out on the little white flowers on the fern.
The black and red bug with wings IS a wasp (I'm not sure if 15 is reference the black/red wasp or the black/yellow bee/wasp/hornet). As for the black and yellow guy, I don't know enough about the differences between bees/hornets/wasps to determine what it is as it appears to just be the general bee/hornet size and phenotype. But yes, the black/red one is called a thread-waisted wasp.
Nice--thanks for the info, UP. It certainly has a wasp-like head, but the thread-waist and colors threw me off. Here's another shot of it: The waist just doesn't look functional. Weird.
