Even Darida who Freiburg picked up would've been a great compliment to the functionality of reinartz, Castro and bender. There is still time, but I doubt they've got anything planned unless it's a loan for someone like sygurdson maybe :-/
Speaking of Spurs, Lewis Holtby has been allowed to leave the team on loan considering the influx of new signings this season. Leverkusen would be a good destination, considering the CL. Would also get Holtby more relevance with towards NT potential.
I dunno if he actually leaves though. Lewis is really starting to settle in and earn his place. I think those rumors are media creation since Eriksen and sygurdson are the only other creative mids on that team and Lewis is the best of the bunch. Sygi's alright, he's slow and sloppy in the final third so I don't rate him too much, although as a loan who gives them an option when teams bunker or they need to chase the game he's not bad, but an Eriksen or a Darida would give them a lot more. Hell eriksen's team mate siem de Jong would've been perfect for Leverkusen and there have been rumors that Ajax would take around 10m for him. The skill to help Leverkusen break teams down, the CL experience they lack, and he's a versatile player who'd fit their hardworking and counter intensive team.
Austrian prospect Marcel Sabitzer (1994) was reported to be scouted by Dortmund, Schalke, & Man U. He's an attacking midfielder/forward that plays on the right side. Schalke nearly signed him but was guided by his father to continue development in his native Austria for the time being. Would be a good pick up by any Bundesliga team including Leverkusen. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/marcel-sabitzer/profil/spieler_106987.html
Not anymore, not like they used to have. At least their wagebill is € 50-55m according to the released numbers and that's a lot less compared to Wolfsburg, Schalke and Dortmund.
And yet, they still remain among the top teams in the Bundesliga. And Dortmund's salary bill really just went up after two titles and a CL Final appearance. I don't see your point. Leverkusen has issues, but one of them is not money. If spending truly determined who wins titles, Bayern would win the Bundesliga every season. Man Shitty would be celebrating their fifth EPL title in a row.... Bayer Leverkusen's biggest issue seems to be not realizing what their top problem is. Lack of bite in central midfield. They didn't leave it open due to any lack of money. They left it open because they didn't think it was that important.
I didn't? I wasn't going to post Leverkusen's financial books. As if I had time or access. You didn't either. So can't I say the same for you?? What opinion did you give that you "solidified?" MF'er please........
I dunno, leverkusen's recent history on the transfermarket has been really frugal given Bayer's capacity, in very stark contrast to their Ballack and ze Roberto buying days. And I'm not sure I buy that that's been exclusively because they haven't thought they needed to reinforce. I think that the club deciding to run their team differently and cut back on spending is a reasonable theory well supported by recent summers. Especially since their pursuit of KdB and Eriksen would suggest that they very much recognize the lack of a creative midfielder like that in their squad. Granted Eriksen was decently pricey which undercuts my theory about them pulling back on spending, but KdB would've been a loan and even with 12m for Eriksen they'd have still made a lot of money between their sales and the CL.
Leverkusen signs Finnish striker Joel Pohjanpalo (1994) , loans him out to VfR Aalen for the season. http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/joel-pohjanpalo/profil/spieler_173491.html
http://provenquality.com/finally-bayer-leverkusens-year/ Someone is getting caught up in the 5-3 win...
It's a shame you all were missing so many key players. It's even more of a pity that that list continues to grow. Hoping for a speedy recovery for all who are injured.
