Matchday 17 in the 2nd Bundesliga against SV Sandhausen. VS Second place Fürth looking to keep place with Köln who are currently 4 points ahead in the division lead. Today's win can pull Fürth back to within one point. Today's lineup: Aufstellung:Hesl - Brosinski , Kleine , Mavraj , Gießelmann - Fürstner , Sparv - Stieber , Trinks , Zillner - Füllkrug 32nd Min: TOR! Niclas Füllkrug ties up the game 1-1 . Zillner crosses into the scoring area, finds Stieber who controls the pass for Füllkrug. 5th goal on the season. 56: Penalty puts Fürth in the lead, scored by Stieber. 76: 3-1 Fürth. Brosinski crosses into the box, who finds Trinks who heads it in for the goal. Trinks in the form of his life right now. Consistent contributor since promotion to the starting lineup as CAM.
Daniel Brosinski hits the trivela goal today, while Azemi scores the winner for the 2-1 victory over Aue.
One of the best goals I've ever seen. Fürth is close to returning back to the 1 BL ... whereas the rivals from Nuremberg are close to going down ... hmm, that's the "horror scenario" for any FCN supporter (my brother being one of them).
Dramatic ending as Fürth scores in extra time to tie up the game 2-2 against Paderborn. Ilir Azemi was great on aerial duels with both his goals coming from headers in the box. The draw was critical as Fürth holds onto the 2nd spot with 3 games to go. Further maintaining the 1 point gap between clubs with Fürth also having a greater goal difference.
First Fürth goal was offside, the second one was a foul by Azemi, who is btw. a "sun of an beach" (look at the celebrating after the goal). And finally it says enough that the referee refused to give the Paderborn coach the hand. That is all very strange, but I have seen many strange things by German referees in the last years.
Fürth announces their 3rd addition so far for the upcoming season. Orkan Cinar will join the Shamrocks from Wolfsburg U19. The 18 y/o has played primarily in left back this season, but also able to cover both wings going forward. Described as a fast, flexible, & technically well-versed player. He also features regularly with the Turkish U18 NT. Last week it was confirmed that forward Johannes Wurtz as a summer transfer from Werder Bremen, having spent this season on loan at Paderborn. CB Malcolm Cacutalua from Leverkusen II (& German U18) will join Fürth on loan.
^Typo: Cacutalua (German *U20) Malcolm joins on a 2-year loan. President Helmut Hack is very excited about the new addition: "Malcolm is a German U20 national team player and a perfect fit for us, we want to give him the opportunity to take the next step with us." Sports Director Rouven Schröder added: "Malcolm is a strong central defender who is very mobile with a good build-up play. We look forward to him and support him in his development..." Niko Gießelmann, who is in his first season with Fürth signs a contract extension until 2017. The former Hannover youth, has been a starter for majority this season featuring as LB & LW.
6-0 victory today keeps the Shamrocks in the hunt for promotion. Ilir Azemi with a brace and scored a nice goal on a backheel flick. He now has 13 goals this season, and has really emerged this Rückrunde. Paderborn still holds the 2nd position with 2 point gap in their favor, because of last week. But this win allows Fürth to keep pace, and fends off Kaiserslautern off from moving forward for the promotion playoff spot. One game to go, Fürth will face Sandhausen at home next week.
Just curious, Is Azemi still eligible to play for Germany? Our U21, for example, need a striker like him. Wont be surprised if he will be considered by the senior squad if Furth manage to promote to 1BL and he continues to start. He fits a need
Being the better team in tonight's 1st leg promotion/relegation game in Hamburg (impressive performance from the underdogs), should give the Shamrock some confidence for the decisive return leg in Fürth on Sunday. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...hamburger-sv-12_spvgg-greuther-fuerth-82.html
Lets go Shamrocks, bring this home and give it your all. Would love to see one of the Werder boys, Füllkrug or Trinks score on HSV.
Mamma mia, that was a real thriller!!! It's kinda bitter to lose the promotion battle despite remaining unbeaten in both legs ... but well, that's football. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...spvgg-greuther-fuerth-82_hamburger-sv-12.html http://www.101greatgoals.com/goals/...ive-relegation-play-off-drawing-1-1-at-furth/ I think Azemi will be having nightmares tonight after that incredible missing (he just needed to pass the ball to his team mate from 3 meters distance inside the 5m box in order to score the last-minute winner).
Several players have been sold for profit on original investment so far this summer transfer window, benefiting from a good season at Fürth. Brosinski to Mainz (1.5 mio), Zoltan Stieber to Hamburg (1.3 mio), Nikola Djurdjic to Ausgburg (1.3 mio), Tim Sparv to Midtjylland (300k). Although, Mergim Mavraj left on free transfer for Köln. Augsburg also rumored to be interested in acquiring Baba Rahman, presumably as replacement leftback when they sell Ostrzolek. Club president Helmut Hack understands the importance of a balanced business model between financial sustainability and staying competitive. Traditionally they have developed good youth players and train well. Although the missed ascent has influenced the departure of these players, the club has evaluated the timing of transfers carefully. They've also brought in more young players to replenish the team at good value. Additions of Wurtz, Stiepermann, Lam, Cinar, Cacutalua, Schrock, and Przybylko provide a good spectrum of depth. Overall, the team is in good position to have another good campaign. Of the current players Trinks will be the main creator in the midfield, I want to see him build on last season and get even better. Weilandt started off fine but faded late, hopefully he can find consistency on contributing to the club. Azemi will be important, and needs to continue his form of second half last season. Also a big season ahead for youth players. Pledl needs to step up, opportunities will be there for him. Steininger and Maderer are other promising prospects who can make impact.

Shocking news for all Fürth fans ahead of the derby against Nuremberg: Their top striker Ilir Azemi got seriously injured in a car accident. http://www.welt.de/sport/fussball/2...-Stuermer-Ilir-Azemi-auf-Intensivstation.html http://www.br.de/nachrichten/mittelfranken/inhalt/ilir-azemi-stuermer-verkehrsunfall-100.html
Really terrible news. It's confirmed that he has several broken bones and a lung contusion. The injuries are not life threatening but will be potentially career altering. Thankfully he survived. Best wishes to him on the recovery.
5-1 Derbysieg!! Huge victory in front of the home fans. Definitely a moment that Fürth fans will remember forever in the history of the Frankenderby.
