    Champions League Final - Dida

I understand that everyone is busy talking about what a poor game it was for 120 minutes. But even then, I see Shevchenko over and over slotting the winner home and barely a mention of Dida's fantastic performance.

I only saw the saves twice and agree they weren't exactly world class saves, but still, there were 3 of them! The shots weren't placed very well but they all had velocity.

Am I the only one that feels that Dida hasn't gotten front page news that he should deserve after saving 3 penalties in the final?

He's getting the credit in the Italian press. Also, if you go on the Milan web site - at least two days ago - they had a song praising him.

I do agree that had it been Buffon who had saved three it would have gotten much more press. I saw the game on ESPN and prior to the shoot out they only showed Buffon's impressive PK stats for the year. The announcers went on and on about it. No mention of Dida.

Any person who follows Brasilian footy, or any person who does their research (as the analysts on the telecasts should have), knows that Dida is a PK specialist. Time and time again, including at the World Club Championships, he comes up big in shoot outs.

And, no need to apologize for the quality of the saves. Dida is a tall and imposing figure in the center of goal, and the players on Juve admitted to knowing of his PK prowess. Intimidation in this area of the game is part and parcel of his effectiveness.

He did, however, step over the line before the shooter, but then again, so did Buffon and he couldn't save another one.

    Dida's Goalie Jersey

Anyone know if they sell the Grey long sleeve Jersey DIDA was using in goal in the 2nd half? I though it was nice looking.

All I've found online thus far is this, from Spain's www.marca.es:

Disgraceful act by the fans in that match. Any time they go after the players and actually injure or harm the players who are out in the open like this, there has to be very severe repercussions. It is tough for the clubs because of course they do not condone such behavior. But at the same time if by punishing the club you punish the fans, that is the way that UEFA will probably move so as to hopefully eliminate this from happening again.

It is unfortunate what happened to Dida as he is a player for the Selecao that I follow. But the bigger picture is that this kind of thing cannot be deemed a 'one off', and they have to be as harsh as they can to get the message across that behavior like this will absolutely not be tolerated - for the safety of the players, staff and fans in attendance.
