Pearce was a DNP for Rostock's 0-0 home tie against Ahlen.

Rostock is in the relegation zone in Bundesliga 2, meaning- they are not a very good side.

Our guy Pearce has not played in the last 5 games. Not one minute. Not even one the bench today.

This is the same Heath Pearce who has played more Nat team minutes than any other player in the past year or so. Yikes! How can this be?

Hence the title. If so, I hope its minor and I hope he's back soon :)

Actually I think he was on the bench. Well, according to soccernet. I think he just had a falling out with the organization, plus they brought in Oczipka on loan, who is a German youth international. Maybe Heath just gave up on this season and is hoping for a transfer out of there? I dunno, but I don't think it's a normal situation.

Maybe there was an influx of Guatemalan wingers in Bundesliga 2 during the last transfer window.

where exactly would Pearce look for a team? I doubt he'd move up to the Bundesliga, and I doubt he could retain his starting position for the Nats playing in Scandinavia, although if he became a lock starter there he would have a better chance than just scattered appearances in the B2

Pearce had 3 teams chasing him in January (2 Danish, 1 Eredivisie), but Hansa refused to let him go. I have no idea what the hell is wrong with them, but if you usually decide to sit the only international you have, and insist on repeatedly playing utter wastes of space like Bulow, Lakimya and Rahn (who the old coach loved soooo much, then got released when he was fired)... well... you deserve to go down to the 3.Bundesliga.

It's a sad story all the way around, watching this once proud organization eat itself. In terms of support, I would estimate Hansa as the fifth biggest club in Germany. Pearce got into a challenging situation that gradually morphed into an increasingly depressing mire.

I'm guessing he finally gets his Eredivisie wish in July and the fun resumes then.

I´m right with you when you say it would be a shame if Hansa really gets relegated, but why do you think of them as the fifth biggest club in germany? They have a 29k seater stadium that never sells out. It´s true that they are perhaps the biggest east german club (together with Dynamo Dresden). But compared to the bigger west german clubs they don´t have as many followers.
To get back on topic: It looks like Dieter Eilts will be fired soon and that might open up a new chance for Pearce when the new coach arrives.

That's what we thought when Pagelsdorf got fired. Then Pearce started and got a red in 6-1 loss to FCK.

Just to correct you, HP is not Hansas only international, Krisztan Lisztes is a Hungarian international, Martin Retov is a Danish international and Assani Lukimya-Mulongoti has one cap for DR Congo.

6-0, give the American Luis Robles for the clean sheet and stopping the pk.

Sorry, I forgot the score and wasn't sure if it was 1 or 0.

Good job by Robles in that match, although I think Hansa had a total meltdown/

I forgot about Retov and didn't realize Lukimya had been capped, but Lisztes hasn't played for Hungary in at least 4-5 years. Thanks for the catches, though.

They came fourth or fifth in a national poll of support a few years ago. I kinda assumed many fans didn't actually live in Rostock, that they had regional support.
