They didn't play too bad... Dortmund created 3 chances and scored them all, Bayern made 2 mistakes and they also scored due to those 2 mistakes.

The difference is the BvB guys are competent at what they do and very efficient too. Actually much more talented than the Arsenal attack. Walcott-Poldi on the wings. Groud striker are like donkeys compared to Gotze-Reus and Lewa as striker

BvB guys are not only better but know us well and have the psych advantage over us ATM

I think bvb can tear arsenal apart..

Aside from that, I would lean towards boetang.
But it's great that we have an in form dvb

I mean when in a million years would anyone say they're glad we have dvb as back up :p

Experience hasn't stopped Buyten from being bad his entire career in many important matches on a consistent basis, when did this become a strength of his? :p

I have also harped on Boateng for his mistakes this season, Dante has made possibly more than him. But I guess the media doesn't make a fuss about that so it's ok...

We aren't talking about DvB and Boa relative to every other CB in the world here, we are talking about them relative to each other. Because, you know, they kinda have to pick between these two for the upcoming game. :ninja:

funny enough..i don't think Dante's mistakes have ever led to a goal or penalty against us.

    Most definitely ^

But I was strictly referring to the arsenal debate.

Dante conceded a silly penalty vs Mainz, 3-1 win at home. He also made a mistake giving the ball to BVB, which turned into a corner and then they scored. EDIT: and last game's as well. :p He's also had a few mistakes that haven't resulted into goals. They're very minor don't get me wrong, I think Dante has been possibly the most inform CB in Europe this season. However even the usual "mistake waiting to happen" Boateng this season has made very few mistakes as well.

If Boateng shows us the form prior to his injury then he's clearly our man for the weeks to come. In case he shows the more of the same since his comeback then I'd go with van Buyten.

I personally expect the van Buyten vs. Boateng and Mandzukic vs. Gomez matter to be decided shortly. I believe two of them will play against Dortmund whilst the other two will get their chance against Arsenal in the 2nd leg of the round of sixteen. Consequently the performances in these matches will be decisive factors for the weeks to come.

But my guess is as good as anyones.

Well, lets just even the score by beating them 5-2 on Wednesday! (would prefer the clean sheet though lol)

I'd go with Boa for the speed factor. Plus, VanBuy needs his rest for the next CL match! Won't have much to do though.

How many times have Boa & Dante partnered in the middle? Can't think of any off the top of my head.

Didn't they partner most of the games after Badstuber went down? Prior to the break of course

Judging on the last match vs Dortmund in December, I think this season we finally (or are gradually) coming up with a plan to defeat Dortmund. Actually last season, the Cup Final defeat was very deserved, but the 2 matches vs Dortmund in the Bundesliga, I found them very equal, and Dortmund won both because they were more efficient probably, or just because they had more luck. This season we are much more stable at the back, while being even better at keeping the ball and attacking purposely. The last match vs Dortmund Lady Luck again smiled at them, yet this time all they could get is a draw. Don't forget this season we also have better personnel, and the system is more complete.

So I'm confident, and while I rate Dortmund very high, I'm not as afraid to face them as you guys. I think this Wednesday we will come out on top (barring some bad luck as always).

Its actually Kuba-Reus on the wings for BvB, and as hard working as Kuba is, I think he is a weak link for Dortmund.

They were the starting pair until late Nov, Badstuber was holding on for Alaba at the start of the season.

Badstuber had 2-3 games in the middle but he pretty much stunk up the joint.
