Not surprising. They would have known coming in that NY was fielding a reserve squad, so it is a good game to get a look at trialists and non-starting players.
Leone Cruz? he is not an academy player. Sounders drafted him last year but he never made the team. RSL traded for his rights this off season and brought him into camp.
Mis-read something earlier in another thread that made it sound like they were both academy players. You are correct that he is not an academy player.
some audi dealer has huge balls parking an R8 next to the field like that, its just asking to take a rocket ball into a side/quarter panel and getting a nice dent.
This could be the only chance for the New England Revolution to pickup some hardware. A tournament full of reserve players? I still dont like our chances.
You already beat a Galaxy team that played the strongest team they could assemble. I think that was your toughest matchup on paper.
It's going to be a long season for New York if they play Kenny Cooper the way they did against Pumas. He looked awful--and isolated. Their 10-12 yard passing game does nothing for him, balls into space do nothing for him, he likes to improvise with the ball at his feet facing goal, not post up. Henry was dropped so deep, he and Cooper had zero interchange. Tainio and his replacement, McCarty, looked bad. Time and again, only Dane Richards provided the spark up top.
Hey, we may not learn much from this tournament with all the reserves/trialists that are getting run....but we have in fact learned that Kelyn Rowe is very good and I am very happy that the Revs got him in the draft.
the R8 finally got tagged, Olave shoulders Cooper out of bounds who collides with a cameraman and both end up on the hood of the expensive audi.
