At 23 CR wasn't passing either. And Messi may be the best player ever...

And there it was again! 70 yard run by bale, dempsey doesnt even bother legging it out anymore. Dempsey literally did not run pass mid field on Bales 70yard run to nothing. MEanwhile Clint takes 7 steps and actually gets a shot on goal.

I really wish he had scored there or at least come closer. It would highlight the difference between actual quality and perceived quality.

Dempsey broke through a few defenders and had a shot go low/wide of the left post. Pretty limp effort. Lots of individual nonsense going on in this game and I really feel like it's because of Bale. Playing him behind the striker creates nothing.

Dempsey might get subbed at the half. Just passed it to nowhere. His head is nowhere near this game. maybe it is already in Miami, but he is definitely not dialed in right now.

He is not defending. He is not looking to make a difference and he is not running.

Clint passes to the left flank expecting someone to be there, but there isn't and it rolls out of bounds.

Bullshit. Any player with half a brain knows when you've run to the touchline, it's smarter to cross than shoot 95% of the time. The angle is gone. You don't have to be Maradona to not be an idiot.

I was expecting him to get flack for that, but the commentators on my feed gave him a break for that saying it wasn't a bad idea to expect someone to be there.

    Really? Overreact much?

These Dempsey/Spurs threads are becoming absurd...

Why is Defoe laying on the ground?

Spurs might be out of strikers.

    4-6-0 anyone?

I'm not sure what is wrong with Defoe, but he's on the ground rolling.

Overreact to what? You're insinuating that because those two are light years beyond their peers that Bale can't make the smart, easy play. It's basic football that you learn at u10.

Agreed. Back to the match, folks. If all you're interested in doing is complaining about Dempsey's teammates, then please take it somewhere else (and I don't mean the Dempsey thread in the main forum).

I think Bale tried to get the cross on, but his right foot is not his left foot and he only managed to blast it off the defender.

    back to the actual match.

Holtby in. Dempsey up top. I think this wakes our boy up. Wait, can we discuss Dempsey in the dempsey thread anymore?

Looks like Dempsey's up top for the injured Defoe.

Not a bad idea for Spurs today, but certainly not a long-term plan for Clint. He'd better find something special today.

How was Dembele the only player back defending? How does that happen?
