Hi- I'm new here! What a great board with fantastic discussions! It's time for a new jersey, and I'd like to get a Clint Dempsey home jersey. My only question is what number to get.... As recently as 3/25 vs Ecuador he was wearing 2 and Bradley was wearing 8. But then, vs China, Dempsey was back to wearing #8 Does anybody know what jersey Deuce will be wearing most often in the future??? thanks- Eric

Senior amongst players determines who wears what number. For instance: If Frankie HeyDude is on the squad, he has preference in choosing numbers and he usually gets #2, which bumps Duece to #8. It's really a matter of which number you like better. Chnaces are he'll continue to wear both with some regularity.
Keep in mind that Steve Cherundolo's preferred number is #6, so once he gets back from injury you won't see Michael Bradley wearing the #6 too much (unless Bob gives some favors to his special boy).
had the same dilemna. but yea, the reason he's wearing #8 is that frankie's back on the squad, and he has seniority. i've been holding onto my usa third shirt for a few weeks now and am about to call the local soccer store to order the number. i'll probably end up getting dempsey 2 instead of 8 because i think 2's his preferred number. and also, he is "deuce" after all. those of you that have the third jersey with name and number, what does the number look like? is it the same as the navy away? because i remember during the ecuador and guatemala matches in the spring, the number looked the same but had a red border. the local soccer store said the only number they have available is the one used for the navy away. might just get that.
