Buy that man a mop! AVB should play only 2 starters in these matches. Give the kids a run out. Focus needs to be on the league.
Dempsey hurries the keeper and gets a ball in the gut. Wish I could say that isn't his best contribution so far, but it is.
Not looking like a great fit thus far. probably doesnt help that Kaptain Karma had to watch him scowling on the bench.
He was fine - tried to do too much with his first two chances. Looked silly when he fell down in the box, but then he did exactly what he was supposed to do - keep possession, run down players with the ball. He was neither here nor there.
His first two chances? Don't you mean his only two chances? The only other times I saw him near the goal were a couple instances in stoppage where he basically just stood there surrounded by defenders. He did little to help his teammates get him the ball. I doubt there is anyone that wants to see Dempsey succeed more than I do. But, in my opinion, Tottenham fans have reason to be disappointed thus far.
Huh? He chased down the ball that challenged the Maribor keeper, played a nifty 1-2 with Adebayor and then went deep left in the box. Showed for Lennon twice and got the ball. He was perfectly fine. Nothing at all special. The second time he got the ball and tried to dribble three defender into the box was silly and he looked silly. The rest was uneventful, except when the almost pipped the keeper. That was almost fun. If anyone is disappointed in anyone it's got to be Naughton and Lloris. That was just silly.
That sentence pretty much sums up his first two months with Spurs. It's going to be Adebayor and Defoe going forward. Clint is number 3 in that equation. Defoe is putting up numbers. And he even passes to Adebayor occasionally. Those two are going to start against City.
Defoe really doesn't need to pass. Mostly he just gets in behind defenders and one-times. As long as Bale and Adebayor find him he is going to shoot and as long as he scores he will play. If Defoe goes off the boil, however, he adds very little. But Spurs play to him and he's a very quick and clever poacher. Demps is more of an Adebayor-type, at least in positioning.
Jurgen had to break out a few step-overs of his own as he stepped over folks on the way to the aisle. He didn't fall down like Demps at the end of his, however.
