It's never pretty to wiff on a back heel. Just saying.

HT - all Spurs until the keystone cops routine. Bale very good. Everyone else ok. Naughton and Lloris - priceless.

seeing the replay, that's a bigger mistake by Lloris than it first looked. He really blew it there.

Maribor is playing smart, they know Spurs is far more talented than them up front. They are trying to wear out Spurs attack, which is all Bale so far; then they can attack Spurs far less daunting defense.
I expect Maribor will go back in it's shell at the start of the 2nd half and if there are no other Spurs goals they will start to attack again around 75 minutes.

that seems to be the way everyone beats AVB. Reminds me of Indiana Jones scene where the dude spends 5minutes wielding his saber and Harrison Ford shoots him.

If Spurs were a little more active/precise in the middle they'd be up 2 or 3. The Maribor bunker is just not that good. but Spurs may gift another.

No, they're both on the bench. What troubles me is that it seems like AVB is trying to find the best compliment for Defoe up top even though it seems like a Dempsey and Adebayor combo might be Tottenham's best answer.

Maribor's keepers arms look like they're 15 feet long. Spurs need to cross further out.

Bale YC for kicking the ball away. Getting a bit chippy.

Bale get clocked - no call. A little blood. Spurs should be up by 2 more.

    Defoe x 3

Too easy . Bale is having a field day.

    3-0. Defoe with the hat-trick.

Really nicely played on the counter, Adebayor did a great job to chest/control the clearance at the left touch/center line, passed back to Huddlestone, who played a ball over the top to a streaking Bale on the left, who perfectly crossed on the ground to Defoe to finish on the gallop.

Dempsey played into the right of the penalty area, tries to get fancy with step-overs, is dispossessed and falls down.
