You can't make this shit up with California Democrats/communists... http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...alleged-gun-running-was-gun-control-advocate/
I read about this today. I gotta admit, I was impressed. I didn't think any of the wussy Democrats around here had it in them. Just goes to show, power corrupts, and the Democrats in California have a lot of power right now.
I posted about this guy a few days ago in here. It really is amazing what people do to get themselves in trouble when they have a seemingly good position without doing the illegal stuff.
It's a huge story in the San Francisco Bay Area. Leland Yee was running for Secretary of State. He also ran for major of San Francisco last year. His face was on flyers all over town. And he was very vocal at the time in accusing incumbent major Ed Lee of corruption and campaign irregularities. Major Lee won reelection. One of the figures associated with Yee who was also arrested during this investigation was Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow, a Chinese organized crime figure who spent time in jail for child prostitution and drug trafficking among other things. He was known to associate with democratic party leaders including mayor Ed Lee and former mayor Gavin Newsome (now California Lt. Governor). He was lauded for his contributions to the local community. Here are some references to "Shrimp Boy" from prominent San Francisco politicians. “Thank you for your tireless dedication to providing outstanding service to the residents of San Francisco,” -SF Mayor Ed Lee “Your efforts to turn your life around and help others do the same has been an inspiration to us all,” - Assembly Tom Ammiano (D). “Serving as an inspiration and a role model to others, you have had a great impact on those in need of guidance.” - Senator Dianne Feinstein (D). Yeah, it was a nasty campaign. Yee even released a parody biography of Lee making fun of his real autobiography and accusing him of corruption and all kinds of things. Lee kicked his ass, though. He's a popular mayor.

No, no! It's Happy Loyalty Day, you pinko. Yes, it's ********ing appalling that we have one of those.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/05/01/presidential-proclamation-loyalty-day-2014 On Loyalty Day, we renew our conviction to the principles of liberty, equality, and justice under the law. We accept our responsibilities to one another. And we remember that our differences pale in comparison to the strength of the bonds that hold together the most diverse Nation on earth. In order to recognize the American spirit of loyalty and the sacrifices that so many have made for our Nation, the Congress, by Public Law 85-529 as amended, has designated May 1 of each year as "Loyalty Day." On this day, let us reaffirm our allegiance to the United States of America and pay tribute to the heritage of American freedom. NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2014, as Loyalty Day. This Loyalty Day, I call upon all the people of the United States to join in support of this national observance, whether by displaying the flag of the United States or pledging allegiance to the Republic for which it stands. LOL!
From what I can tell, we have "Loyalty Day" (such as it is) as an outgrowth of the fifties' red scare. A bitch slap at May Day, in other words.
20's Red Scare, actually. It was only officially endorsed in the 50's, with Ike. Creepy as all ******** no matter what.
If my childhood memory serves, Loyalty Day was thrown as a sop to distract McCarthy types who really hoped for legislation to force everyone in the U S to take a loyalty oath on pain of, I dunno, incarceration or loss of employment or citizenship or something. I remember--barely-- my parents discussing it as current events over the dinner table.
Sounds about right-- puts it at the right dinner table... and yes, I know McCarthy himself was already dead. McCarthyism didn't just evaporate after the Army-McCarthy hearings-- it poked its ugly head up several more times, including the loyalty oath thingy...
