I've checked it in 2 different browsers — Safari and Firefox. The DCU web site has lost all its formatting and reverted to old-school HTML/hypertext-only. Coincidence?
Someone else pointed out that a lot of items are listed as "Submitted by rpayne."
I hadn't noticed that. I think it's probably a ruse. But, maybe that implies the site was hacked. THIS IS EVEN MORE AWESOME!

I don't think the site's been hacked. It looks to me like the mobile site is being incorrectly sent out to non-mobile browsers.

Lots of stuff has always been submitted by Rebecca Payne -- she was (is?) one of the people responsible for digital media content.

It would be funny if one of the people they fired recently took everything they did before they left, including site designs, art etc.

Or they're working on an upgraded site design to go with the downsized office. Might be they've changed out the style sheets and not the HTML. Doubtful a hack, tho.

Well, regardless of what it is, I doubt it would be up this long if the media folks (Kyle Sheldon and Mark McClure) were still on the payroll.

That was the first thing I thought -- that they weren't serving out their CSS. I just realized I could check that in the console, went to the DCU site to do it, and it appears back to normal.

CSS = cascading style sheets, files which contain the information on how the content in a web page is supposed to be formatted (and which are referenced in the source code for that webpage)

DCU = D.C. United, the soccer team we discuss in this forum

Whoever actually is responsible for that website fcks it up all the time. This is nothing out of the ordinary. Usually the fck ups are pretty minor but they happen regularly.

If one of the people who got fired was petty enough to want some sort of vengeance in this kind of manner, I would hope they could be a lot more effective.

Do you still have problems viewing the site? I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary since around 4pm yesterday.

Works fine for me. Perhaps this is one of the new gorilla marketing techniques to get people to hit the site! Trick us into verifying a bug/hack.
