Yes, they keep their eye on the ball - and forget to kick it. Weird to play against a team I have no reason to hate - I guess something will come up, though.
We may not be on a par with Barcelona but neither is Portland. I'm surprised everyone seems so pessimistic about our chances. Portland is good at knocking in high balls on incoming freekicks and defending against that has been one of our weaknesses. But beyond that, they don't seem to do much better than you would expect from an expansion team. Hopefully Wolff, Najar, Fred, Pontius or Ngwenya can dribble right at their big cumbersome central defenders to create chances rather than have someone lob crosses into the area - which probably won't create many good chances against this opponent. Edited to add: I overlooked Brettschneider but wouldn't mind seeing get significant playing time. Still not too sure about his strengths and weaknesses...
The bad news? Today's lineup and injury updates. The good news? I'm going out to dinner with a fine young lady and will miss this bloodbath....
Yeah, I think it was earlier this week they said he had a minor groin pull. Looks like Ben is really trying to make sure no one ever plays with even a small injury. Probably a good idea in the long run/he knows from experience.
This was covered in another thread. There are no plans to send the csn crew on the road. This decision is part of the new deal DC United made with csn.
I actually like how we look in the midfield. We seem to be fighting for, and retaining, possession of the ball there. Maybe it's the lack of McCarty. Whatever is, though, I am pleased with the results.
This lineup is doing fairly well. If Portland gets its act together I think DC is in trouble but I'm starting to think they may get something from this.
