Have at it, folks.
I'm having a problem conjuring up a proper amount of hate of KC for this game. In fact I've always had a problem with not enough KC hate even in these days,
Any help would be appreciated.
A google search turned up this. Surely there's something in that you can find. Then again it could be one of those '100s of channels and nothing good on' deals.
This lineup seems a little nutty, but Ben has been extremely naive on the road going into the top teams in MLS. Our games in LA, Vancouver, San Jose, NY and Houston we are 0-5-1 with a -10 goal differential (2.7 goals given up).
This is MLS. You can't play the same way on the road as you do at home. Playing Kitchen/Saragosa/Boskovic will allow us to compete with their 3 man midfield. We can't get overrun in midfield against KC because once they have you pinned in your own box, their forwards will get the ball in the net by brute force.
Salihi should start because he will make the subtle runs that can unlock that defense. You can't get behind that defense by strength (Santos) or speed (Tan). You get behind them with intelligence.
As far as Jakovic at LB, I would limit this as a one game experiment. I think Jakovic will lock down Kamara. Woolard or Neal would simply get dominated and that's the last player you want running free.
And lastly ... yes I like De Ro on the bench for this one. If we can lock this game into a stalemate until about 60 minutes, I think De Ro could come in fresh and be the game changer.
2009. Final game of the season ends in a 2-2 draw keeping DC United out of the playoffs. And after a fantastic performance by Julius James playing with his hamstring injured, unable to run and barely able to walk scored the go-ahead goal in the 82' only for the wiz to score the game tying goal in added extra time.
Plus they're hosting the Open Cup final tonight. Here's to extra time and an emotional game that screws with them.
Right now all I have is the MLS Cup of I believe 2000 where the Wiz played the Fire. That game turned me completely off from watching live MLS Cup games that DCU is not in.
Yeah but we really want KC to beat the snot out of Seattle tonight.
And re lineup, Najar is a lock at RB, I think. My guess Korb will switch and Olsen will continue the revolving door at CB.
...after playing 120 minutes & PKs!
KORB JAKOVIC MCDONALD NAJAR
Cruz off the bench for the game winner - 2:1 in injury time.
I think we get murdered with that lineup. There's only 4 genuine defensive players in that lineup not counting Hamid.
KC is the wrong club to go up against thinking you're just gonna knock the ball around the park and score a bunch of goals. We need more muscle out there to settle the game.
Per 86: I think Jakovic will lock down Kamara.
The key to the match IMO.
Kamara does not go 90 all out, so early "lock down" is imperative.
BTW: KC most fouls in league and Crew least. Talk about bite!
So, you got any numbers for the Power Ball Lotery?
Najar- Dudar- McD- Korb
Deleon- saragosa-Kitchen- Pontius
I'd be interested in seeing this on the road againsts a physical opponent. It won't happen.
I totally agree that it is green to think that you can approach road games against quality opponents the same way you play at home. I think DCU has proven that this is a recipe for a beat down.
Strong defensive presence in the midfield. Hopefully, create enough offensive opportunities with addition of Najar on the Right. Like to see Boskovic and Salihi together.
DeRo could use some rest.
If we have a chance at getting points and need a goal, bring in DeRo ( Maybe also Tan as speed option to run against tired legs) at 60-65min.
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5. That's the same as my luggage combination!
I was thinking along much the same lines, actually, but was too lazy to make the formation map.
Is that from Caddyshack?
I don't think so. If it was a duplicated joke, I've forgotten that.
But it's from Spaceballs.
Keep firing a-holes!
Korb McDonald Dudar Jakovic
Najar Boskovic DeLeon
Now I remember. On its face a stupid movie but one I'll admit I've watched many many times.
Actually funny story. Or maybe you had to be there. Either way, I'll bore you with it.
I was on the phone with a software tech support rep at work one day and she was diligently trying to uncover the cause of and solution to my problem for quite some time. Had a couple people on the phone, remote connect, etc etc. Finally she had to restart something and log into my software with her account information and she accidentally started typing her password into the user field and I saw almost all of it on my screen before she realized it. Of course, it took the form "Abcabc12345", so there was a moment of silence and I said, "Hey, that's the same combination I have on my luggage" and she busted out laughing for about 3 minutes, and finally composed herself enough to say "What kind of idiot would have a combination like that?" and we had a good laugh.
I'm always impressed by the pick up on a deep cut reference.
Resume thrilling pre-game dialogue... now.
Depite the 120 minute pk victory, I think we're still toast in this game.
And we let Julius go. I really liked him. What an epic goal.
I can't really get up the KC hate but I can get up a hell of a lot of mockery since they changed their name to "Sporting".
I love how you ended a funny story with a moment of crushing pessimism. Well done, sir.
I'm glad someone appreciated it. I like to have a balanced perspective on life.
In some of last weeks postgame quotes, it seemed that Olsen was pretty happy with Tan's contribution.
I assume he liked his speed/hustle, runs off the ball, ability to create space for others, and create scoring opportunities (while not finishing).
Do you think Tan actually starts again this week???
What kind of striker do we need on the field against KC? I've seen a few of their games, but not many. Interested in thoughts.
