I'd rather pay to see an Open Cup match v. Richmond than a friendly

I'd rather have more than one home game in June and July.

    Thx,

Hopefully we make a run at US Open Cup and get a couple more home summer games.

but the 2012 USOC game v Richmond would be on the road (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Why does the article keep switching between 28 titles and 30 titles for them?

I assume that's for the cheating fiasco, they won the league 30 times, but only have 28 scudetto's?

It's a long, long story, but essentially yes... Perhaps Andrea Agnelli is not right, but I think he's not completely wrong either... Officially - for the league - Juve has now 28 titles, for the fans instead, and for many players and especially Andrea Agnelli, the club has 30 titles. So, although it is unlikely that we'll see the 3rd stars on Juve jersey (but I wouldn't actually bet against it, also if that would be a league violation), the Juve stadium already displays the third star - a huge one - and I believe their official website talks about 30 titles as well. A. Agnelli is a fighter, he said he wanted to sue the league for over 400 million Euros for having lost money and players for their serie B year. Again, it is very complicated, and I think it will also be very long...
    P.s. the "star" represents 10 titles, 30 titles = 3 stars

It is not a league violation. There are no rules concerning the stars. It was a tradition started by Agnelli's uncle after Juve won its 10th Scudetto. The same is true when it comes to national teams wearing stars on their kits to signify WC wins. My guess is that MLS has no rule either. We have four stars on the DC United shirt. We know what it stands for. I don't think the league has any official rule on those stars.

Juventus was stripped of two titles without any due process. The individual who was put in charge of the Italian Federation gave one of those titles to Inter. He was also a former board director of Inter. He also had worked for TIM, the cellular phone company that tapped phone conversations that created the fiasco and whose chairman was also on the Inter board. Over the last few years, it was shown that many calls that would exonerate one of the directors for Juve and implicate Inter for doing worse were exclude by the lead investigator in the case. Also, the Italian press had condemned Juve when this came out and the ball just rolled in that direction.

The Italian justice system is not like ours. And our system in the US is far from perfect. If anyone has any doubts about Italian justice, just Google Amanda Knox.

I don't want to transform this thread in a Juve one, but I believe the league does not allow displaying on jerseys something that you haven't (officially) won. This would create a dangerous "precedente" (I don't know the english word for this but I'm sure you have understood), allowing clubs to do what ever they like in the future. Although I think that Juve paid the highest price in that scandal (Lazio and Fiorentina were first relegated, then "saved"; Milan got a 30 points penalty of which 22 decurted from that season and 8 from the following one; well, even with 22 points penalty, they were still able to qualify for CL - and I believe to win it too), the faults of the "triade" were evident, big, huge faults. Then you can tell me what you want about Rossi, Tronchetti Provera and Inter and you're probably right. Remains the fact that A.Agnelli has just partially backtracked his previous declarations, saying that "officially for the league the scudetti are 28, but for every Juventino they are 30", because he probably realizes that he would create a bigger mess than he could actually handle. So, my feeling is that we won't see a third star on Juve jerseys, or perhaps only in some friendlies like the one in DC.

We will see. If they place the third star, it is deserving. The team has won the title 30 times. It has 30 trophies in its trophy room. That is what the stars represent.

Oh good god. They probably didn't have enough people betting to make a profit throwing the game.

Maybe we can line up someone fun instead. The Pompey friendly was one of the best times.

    El Salvador national team.

    Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

Maybe United could bid on hosting some more USOC games. Does it say in the rules the hosting team actually has to be playing in said tie?

    Thx,

    Jay!

Who's already going to be in the US? PSG perhaps? They play in NYC on July 22 and then were supposed to play Juve in Montreal on July 31. Roma has matches in Chicago and Boston prior to the 28th, maybe they tack on an additional game? Or how about Newcastle United? Newcastle were slated to play AC Milan in Pittsburgh before that fell through and supposedly they were looking for some matches here. DCU better keep the match at night because I was going to try to catch both Spurs-Liverpool and DCU-tba that day.

Yeh, I hope the keep it in the evening too, as I have already bought tickets to both matches, actually hoping if it is not as attractive opponent in terms of TV it actually gets pushed back a bit, say to 7 pm. PSG would be a fun choice.
