I haven't gotten on Google Maps, yet, but I wonder if OSU's fields are more than 75 miles away from Beavercreek HS. [As an aside, I think "75 miles" is becoming the modern-day "60-90 days" of BigSoccer days gone by...]
Not sure if their games are on TV but I'm pretty sure that they have a live stream, at least they did for the USOC games.
I believe USL has a deal with Youtube to live steam all their games this season http://uslpro.uslsoccer.com/home/780995.html
http://www.thecrew.com/news/2014/03/crew-sends-five-players-loan-dayton-dutch-lions-usl-pro Stuver will join Finley, George, Friedman, and Walker for Dayton games.
For those planning on attending a game or two, DDL will be playing at West Carrollton High School starting May 10 (the first three home games of the season will be played at Beavercreek HS). http://www.daytondutchlionsfc.com/s...s-expand-partnership-with-west-carrollton-hs/ Maybe I'm reading the article wrong but it seems like they'll be playing on turf, even though they've also invested in grass fields at the complex. Seems like a strange choice to me, unless the grass fields keep getting chewed up by other events.
I think they're replacing WC's school stadium grass surface with artificial turf; that stadium has lights and all that. The grass fields, I think, are improvements to the area around the stadium. It's one of those typical high school complexes with lots of space, the school's baseball field, softball field, etc. When new, WC's high school stadium hosted a lot of regional-level state soccer tournament games. The stadium and the playing surface were nice. But, once OHSAA made their decision to require turf beyond a certain point in the tournaments, they've been bypassed.
Probably because they want to encourage everyone to use turf for football. Upkeep is a lot less expensive over time too.
I heard once that it was to reduce the chances of cancellations and delays due to unplayable fields. That's just what I heard once; I don't know if that is true or has merit.
I believe the reason OHSAA goes to turf fields in the regional and state tournament levels is to avoid games getting postponed due to field that are unplayable after heavy rains. Had it happen a few years ago, somewhere just east of Columbus. BIG mess.
Pretty much what I heard--I asked about it after going to see Worthington Christian in a regional (one of my former youth players plays for them now).
George and Finley are both starting. Several others on the bench Live Stream here http://www.newyorkredbulls.com/live
I skimmed the replay of the match on Youtube. Dayton's midfield was a mess. Baiden looked pretty good. Made a few nice tackles, but passing was a little off. Walker looked like he's still getting used to pro ball. He played a few very ambitious passes that didn't have much of a chance, but you can tell the ideas are there. Dare I say Tchaniesque? George looked okay. A little tentative at times, but composed on the ball. He's still the same player, even at center back. I didn't see much of Schoenfeld, Finley, or Friedman.
Final score: NYRB Reserves 3, Dayton 0 Dayton's lineup: Williams; Bowlin (Friedman 70'), George, Granger, Smith; Harada, Thuriere (Baiden 64'), Vickers (Broekhuizen 70'); Finley (Walker 64'), Garner, Hertsenberg (Schoenfeld 53') unused subs: Stuver, Kissinger yellows: Harada 47', Baiden 74', Schoenfeld 88' Dayton's next game is Friday night at Charlotte.
I watched most of the game. Finley was pretty selfish. He tried to shoot at pretty much every tiny opening. Would have like to see a more mature/rounded approach from him.
So Ryan Finley was suspended due to his anger issues. Bummer. Looks like he wont be doing much for the Black and Gold anytime soon.
