http://soccerstats.us/dates/day/1/16/#games says that January 16 in history there were U.S. Open Cup games, most recently in 1955. Does anybody have the date of every final or at least how many finals were played in every month?
By my count - March: 12, April: 38, May: 28, June: 27, July: 7, August: 4, September: 7 (two-legged finals counted twice.)
Does any one know why Wikipedia skips years 1936-1939 on their list of Champions? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._Open_Cup_winners#Results
Non-MLS Cup winning teams still running (that I could find): 99 - Rochester Rhinos 95 - Richmond Kickers** 93 - San Francisco CD Mexico (now called El Farolito Soccer Club)^^ 92 - San Jose Oaks^^ 91 - Brooklyn Italians** 90 - AAC Eagles 86, 57 - St. Louis Kutis 83, 82, 80 - New York Pancyprian-Freedoms 79 - Brooklyn Dodgers SC** (now called Brooklyn Italians)^^ 76 - San Francisco Italian Athletic Club 74, 69, 68, 67 - Greek American AA 65 - New York Ukrainians 64, 58 - Los Angeles Kickers 55 - SC Eintracht 40, 38 - Chicago Sparta ** - in 2013 Cup tournament ^^ - semi-professional clubs (Rochester and Richmond are the only full-professional teams) San Francisco IAC isn't even in a league now. Just a social club. Sooo... 72, 70 winners, Elizabeth SC, are listed as "inactive member" of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. Apparently Chicago Sparta are one of the longest running teams, founded in 1917. 1940, Chicago Sparta tied with Baltimore SC. 1929 winners, New York Hakoah, were revived after a twenty year hiatus or so. Hope that helps.
I am pretty sure the Chicago Sparta is not an active club. Not on the 2 main leagues in Chicago http://www.nslchicago.org/ http://www.mslchicago.us/ Maybe in the Latino league? http://www.clasaleague.com/index.php
Damn, you went far and beyond. Thanks man. I actually played for El Farolito in my younger years so that's pretty cool to know they are one of the oldest.
