I went to the Dash's site and Twitter looking to see if there wan any news, particularly in ST sales or preseason schedules, and saw these two tidbits: --Coach Waldrum just became a grandparent, so congrats on that! --There's a fun article about Noyola in Spanish, talking about the draw of Houston for her and her high hopes for the team and how they play.
An independent supporter group for the Dash has formed, the Orange Brigade. They are still getting organized but they have a facebook group and a twitter handle. https://www.facebook.com/groups/680590085327226/ https://twitter.com/orange_brigade
We are now 6 days from introducing @HoustonDash uniform and 7 days from Dash Day. Fans invited to both events. Details TBA on uniform event.— Chris Canetti (@ChrisCanetti) February 2, 2014
While Dash Day strikes me a good idea, the timing isnt so great. Why put something 1:30 to 3:30 CT when the USWNT game kicks off at 2:30 CT? Couldnt they have Dashed in the morning?
Probably because the kids that will attend this stuff are not really inclined on a saturday afternoon to watch a US Soccer stream
I agree because live is better but they still could have done both if they had wanted to. If theyd done it this weekend they could have trotted out Engen.
Maybe there were other mitigating factors we don't know about. For example, I think it's cool they will be revealing the new kits and that may be something that was not ready this weekend. I do however agree that for some reason I was expecting some kind of presence from the Dash in Frisco because you can bet a majority of the people at that game may not be aware that there's a team right in their back yard.
U r a 100% correct tho...the NWSL does a lousy job in general riding the NTs coat tails. Did the NWSL have a booth...a spot in the USSoccer tent? Did Houston media grab Engen while she was just up the road? I think one of the Dynamo shows did get MacLeod.
Yup a prime opportunity missed. However, if there is any team that can get away with this, the Dash is one of such teams. Still it wouldn't have hurt to have some announce during half time or something.
I don't think the Dash are realistically expecting to draw that many fans from the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. It is 3 1/2 hours away...
But do we know how many people at the game where actually from the Dallas area and not somewhere closer to Houston?
No we don't. But, I doubt it's enough to make a serious impact on Dash ticket sales. The people dedicated enough to the USWNT to drive that far, undoubtably have already heard of the Dash.

Dan Lauletta @TheDanLauletta 2m Looking like the Dash will open at home against the Thorns. Stay tuned for full #NWSL schedule
Dash schedule released today. Disappointed. Not a single daytime game or early start time (earlier than 7pm). I was hoping for some more family friendly times, but to not even have a single one is very surprising to me.
That's strange, even in the early (ie cooler) months they stick to 7PM start times. Then June through August are all at 8 PM.
Yeah that took me off the buying tickets list. Drives in Houston are generally 45 minutes or more and I can't have my daughter up that late.
Stephanie Ochs scored the game-winning and regular-season-clinching goal in Canberra's away win at SFC earlier today. As a Canberra fan, I'm thrilled. As a Spirit fan, I'm still upset.
Parsons is the GM now as well right...Laura Harvey gets a lot of credit for her GM work but there r plenty of gaffs mixed in. It may take some time for Parsons to get Americanized but in this case, he blinked.
Bleh. It sucked waking up to find out Sydney lost, but Canberra has had their number this season, so congrats to them.
Apparently in order to schedule this one, the Dash had to agree to wear their white jerseys. To keep orange out of College Station. Not kidding. aggies. heh.
