Looks happy celebrating today. Despite all the injuries, Reading still in the hunt for the promotional playoffs
Danny's been starting and going the distance almost every single game for the last few weeks and has now opened his account for Reading. GOOOALLL!!! 3-0 to #readingfc!!!! Danny Williams has his first for the Royals. What a day this is turning out to be...— Reading FC (@ReadingFC) February 1, 2014
Would love to see Reading back in the top flight. Especially since FFC look to be making an exit, be happy to have my second favorite English team back in the EPL.
Scored his second league goal of the season: GOALLLL!!!!! 1-0 to #readingfc!!! Great header by Danny Williams after a decent move...— Reading FC (@ReadingFC) February 16, 2014
Could Williams be the next Jones? He seems to have a similar playing style. A good DM with decent technique, decent pace and plays physically. He'll contribute a few goals per season as a DM or defensive minded CM. At around the same age, Jones was playing for a close to bottom of the league team in Frankfurt until he moved to Shalke. At Shalke he developed into a really good DM. With consistent playing time, I could see Williams doing something similar.
That may be. I think both are above average in technique. Looking over on Hob Nob, it looks like the fans are really impressed with Williams play over the past several games and feel he's one of the better players on the team. If he stays healthy, I think he's got a decent shot at the Brazil 23 as well as a move to a BPL team if Reading don't go up.
I think Williams has. 1. better feet in tight spaces than Edu and Jones. 2. He can make a clean pass out of the dmid position. 3. He can make a strong tackle in midfield. His problems in my opinion 1. recovery speed and positioning on defense and transition 2. he is immature in imposing himself into the midfield. This will take time 3. worst haircut in the business. Overall, he is a sizable step down from Cameron, the best dmid in our pool and potentially the best most advanced dmid we have ever had.
Cameron is 28 and not used to playing dmid any more. Not a whole lot of dmid potential left there, unless an emergency comes up in Brazil...
Williams doesn't have the range of passing that Jones had. Jones could land long balls on a dime, and Williams isn't there yet.
who is also a poor dmid. MB doesnt track back or close space well enough at the top of the key. End of story. As to Cameron, in the last go around of USMNT matches in which he participated he was the best field player on the pitch as RB. He was our best midfielder and defender. Dwilliams is currently a nice back up to our back up. He might play a role down the road. A defensive step down from Edu but an all around step up in the future over everyone else in the field.
