So while we were losing to Boca Unidos, Marcelo Gallardo was winning the 2011 Apertura with Nacional.

    http://www.ole.com.ar/futbol-internacional/Muneco-campeon_0_602940090.html

At this point and time I can only say that Gallardo and Ortega are the only real idolos de River around at the moment. When they were around, none of this crap happened.

Passarella you hired the wrong man. You forced Gallardo out as coach, then you did it as president, and look what he's done since he left. Two titles in Uruguay, one as player one as coach.

In that same span, we've gone down and are laboring in the b

    Gracias Kaiser

LA Nacion reports the new Italian prime minister Monti will make cuts of 24 billion in Italian state spending.Sources close to him suggest Its all Daniel Passarellas fault due to his time in Fiorentina where he played with another great Socrates who died yesterday due to the consequences of alcoholism which no doubt was also the Kaisers fault who probably introduced the Brasilian to d
    rink.

I don't see whats brilliant... Passarella is failing terribly as River's president. Not just failing, but embarrassing us.

If we're going to blame Aguilar, we need to blame Passarella for things that are his fault such as

    1. Signing Terrible players time and again
    2. Hiring Cappa
    3. Hiring JJ Lopez
    4. Making 0 signings before the most important championship in our history
    5. Hiring Almeyda
    6. Winning the "economic championship" while boca wins the league

I honestly don't see how anyone in their right mind can support passarella considering whats happened and the horrors we are going to endure on wednesday with roman and alayes back in the team

#4 is the one I have the biggest problem with. Well he did bring in Bordagaray , but look how that turned out.

I dont think Passarella is perfect but blaming the guy who won the election 12 months before we went down in a three year relegation process is simply childish. We have been in decline since 97 and thats the reality.Davicce and Pintado who enjoyed so much success during their reign were actually the ones who started this horrible decline "losing" money while selling players for incredible amounts.Look at the wonderful 96-7 team which was allowed to be dismantled.Saint Ramon had nothing to do with that I suppose but nobody tells the truth about this tecnico who won us many titles but robbed the club.Aguilar accentuated it and Passarella was left facing an impossible task.Ok he made mistakes with Lopez but the notion we should have signed more in the fisr six months of 2011 is silly.Lopez had finished 2010 well there were 10 full internationals on the books with the promise of Lamela,Funes Mori,Lanzini,Pereyra,Buonanotte etc.The tecnico and players bottled it simple as.
Now River fans must all stand behind our club including the democratically elected President.

    I agree completely.

El Kaiser isn't perfect and I'm not convinced he's the best person to manage this club but you got to understand just what a terrible situation he inherited. The scum before him robbed the club empty, there just isn't the resources to turn things around overnight.

There's reasons to be skeptical but nobody could turn River around overnight.

I am perfectly in agreement .Passarella inherited a nightmare and ok he made some mistakes but his points average if replicated over 3 years would have put us into the Libertadores but all the impatient ones cant see that they only see their humilliation our humilliation which will continue even longer unless we keep our heads.
Passarella inherited a bankrupt club but in 18 months we have a 80 million surplus.Despite the attacks made on him as supporting some corrupt stuff i completely beleive in his integrity.
Do these people not know how incredibly proud this man is one of the greatest players ever to walk the Earth the defender who scored 99 goals in 299 games for River 24 in 71 for the seleccion the man who won everything.El Gran Capitan,El Kaiser so they really beleive he can be bought.
we have had more clowns today writing ************ on the walls of the Monumental but this is well organized as are some of the web sites.Done beleive all the crap on riverplate.com

The Gallardo thread, as many of our other threads, was becoming a debate on Passarella's presidency. Let's try to keep the threads on topic, feel free to start new ones if needed.

I have created this thread to discuss/debate anything related to Passarella's term as president.

    Cheers!

I was a big fan of el Kaiser you can go back through my old posts... I even spent hours of my time making a video dedicated to him (you can find it on here somewhere) but then he completely lost the plot.

His comments after being relegated are what did it for me. He took no responsibility and was insincere. All he wanted to talk about was the economic championship he won and how river was going to make more money in the B. Are you ********ing kidding me!? No river fan could take that crap seriously after months of silence he says the B will be better for us economically

Well Passarella does have a huge ego, and I think that effects his judgement. That's definitely something I'm concerned about.

But I also believe his motivations are genuine. River has been his life.

I remember Nacional fans calling for Gallardo's head for months. Nacional has the best academy in Uruguay, I'm very happy for him and it would be great if he coaches River someday but I think Almeyda has potential to be a good coach too, and bleeds the banda roja himself.

I actually agree with El Kaiser that smart economics must come first right now...seeing los bosteros win the apertura while we are in the B is depressing, but River needs to build up the right way to return to its former glory.

We can all agree economic situation is important, but going down should not have been part of that equation... If he had swallowed his pride and hired Gallego or Ramon-- or anyone but Cappa and JJ--- we would have stayed up

What exactly are you refeering? what did Passarella gain?

We got relegated when his record on its own would have got us into the Libertadores.

So we lost a game to a team called Boca Unidos, we also lost to Aldosivi not a word there it merely shows a childish attitude on your part.Boca Unidos have as much in common with Boca Juniors as River Plate Uruguay has with us

Get a grip Davicce and Pintado follwed by Aguilar are more responsible than Passarella.Any serious follower of Rivers situation can see this.
Who do you propose to put in?

Good points Macri resureccted the Bosta when we were utterly dominant with a beautiful team getting bows all over the World. The Bosteros grinned and beared it then knowing they has a president who could lead them back.We are in an even worse situation but with a serious project but a silly minority allied to barras want change for their ends not Rivers

Re: Marcelo "El Muneco" Gallardo - News & Comments

Any serious River supporter? I'm beginning to think you aren't even a river fan but a supporter of Passarella

We all know River has been run poorly, its been run poorly basically since the 70s.

What I find hilariou is that you seem to forget Passarella was also coach during Aguilar's era and during 8 yes EIGHT different tournaments he didn't win a damn thing. he got us knocked out of the copa to libertad, he got us knocked out of the sudamericana to arsenal, he got us knocked out of the copa to caracas... Meanwhile in the local league we never finished better than 3rd and he finished 14th in 2007

Look I supported passarella and what is childish about losing to Boca Unidos? They have nothing to do with Boca we all know this, thats the point! They are a shit team. We should not be playing teams like Boca Unidos or Aldosivi or Merlo or Defensa y Justicia. its disgraceful

whats worse is how little contact the guy has with the fans and socios. He disappears for months at a time then pops up with some Christmas message saying things are going to be better in 2011... he then disappears again and comes out calling out grondona.. he then hides again before going on national tv and saying eeeeeehhhhhh ganamos el campeonato economico por goleada

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

He hired Cappa, a man who contributed to Huracan, River, and Gimnasia going down.

He then hired JJ Lopez who contributed to 4 different teams now in his career going down.

Many of his close associates were there with Aguilar including Turnes, and he was there with Aguilar too, making half a million a year under the guy and god knows how much he made from transfers of people like Higuain

Trust me it is no coincidence that Andres Rios, who debuted under Passarella, is getting so much playing time this season

I actually listen to the radio every day in argentina and i hear what is being said. River fans want to know where the hell passarella is. What is he doing. What are his plans? What are his feelings on the current situation?

He is the most invisible club president of a major club in argentina. Even the scum Ameal at Boca and Abdo at CASLA amidst the chaos there are talking to the media and the fans, passarella is almost always silent. He never travels with the team. he NEEDS to let the fans know what the deal is... Is he actually going to bring in any reinforcements?! Is Aimar a real possibility?

What is this guys plan?! Where do we go from here?!

And as for the Gallardo vs. Almeyda argument, well I know that Nacional fans were pissed at Gallardo, but he turned it around and he beat Peñarol and won the league. I don't know if Almeyda can turn it around, I hope he can, but the bottom line is in this difficult situation neither is equipped to be River's coach. We need a Ramon or Gallego or Pellegrini or even Merlo

And as for passarella's integrity LOL

Go ask El Negro Astrada about his integrity!!! Are you kidding me? Do you remember that fiasco? El Negro was treated like a rat run out of town

What about Roberto Pereyra? "Pereyra no se vende" and a week later he is gone

What about Buonanotte? Do you really think Buonanotte lied? Do you?

Daniel Passarella has always been El Gran Hijo de...; He was an asshole on the field -ask anybody who played against him- and he was an asshole off the field. This is a guy who cheated with his teammate's wife (allegedly) during a World Cup.

But he was also The Great Captain. As a defender, he was the best Argentine defender ever and in my view easily a top five defender all-time. (Beckembauer, Baressi, Passarella... who else?). One of the best scoring defenders as well, he always went forward and scored at key times. And as a captain, he was the kind of captain who when the going got tough carried his teammates on his back and willed them to a win. The kind of captain we lack today.

You guys know I'm a huge Boca fan, and you can imagine how much I hated Passarella with a passion since I was a kid, and he was the kind of player you love to hate. But I also always had the utmost respect for Passarella as a player. He was a huge reason why Argentina won its first world cup, both because of his great play and by getting into his opponents head. (Ask the Dutch players). And I don't need to tell you how much he meant to River on the field of play.

So yeah, he's a bad guy, as bad as they come. But as an Argentine and as a fan of futbol, I admire him. He belongs in the pantheon of the gods. I doubt we'll see another one like him in our lifetime.

Dont. Be talking boludeces abiut being a Passarella fan and not being a River fan.I am one of the majority who support him remember HE WON AN ELECTION.the response is get a better candidate and win the next election..In the Buonanotte situation Passarella has been vindiacated.Do you really think with all the money he made and how proud a man he is he would let himself down like this.
I admire Passarella enormously he has led.our club to far more triumphs than. Ramon and.if you want to investigate corruption and.our decline.it would be a.good.place to start.
I have no.doubt Passarella if given time.will lead us out of this.As for doubting the mans courage well what can I say as Argentina soccer fan says he singlehandmiedly led us to our first mundial with his guts determination and.LEADERSHIP
RIVERgauucho tells ud of.his failures in River for gods sake how many titles did he win.as tecnico and.jugador.
ANYWAY THE BOTTOM LINE IS WE LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY ,PASSARELLA.IS.ELECTED AND EVEN CLARIN AND LA NACION COMBINED CANT GET RID OF CRISTINA SO IF YOU OPPOSE TGE KAISER GET YOUR CANDIDATE.

Jesus man i have just so many gripes with everything you are saying...

Passarella won a controversial election so now i have to support him 100%? Winning an election does not mean that... As a candidate if you win an election your job is to fulfill your promises. As a fan, your job is to judge that candidate on his performance and how well he keeps his promises

Do you know how a democracy works? Someone wins an election does not mean he deserves UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT like you give el kanser.

I used to be like you. I used to get so pissed at the passarella haters... THEN i opened my eyes and saw RIVER PLATE 33 CHAMPIONSHIPS relegated while this man hid his head in the sand while his choice of coach cried on the sideline during the game

Then I saw him claim he had only 12% of the blame when he had a year and a half to avoid relegation and could not do it and he started talking about the economic championship??? Where were you when river got relegated? Were you celebrating that River-Belgrano had the highest TV Ratings of the year and that we won the "economic championship?" Or were you in pain like the rest of us?

YES Passarella inherited the club in a bad situation, but if he wasn't prepared to handle the situation he should not have run for the job

If you are the president you NEED to take responsibility. YOU NEED to communicate with the socios and fans

Its like Obama... I voted for the guy, and for 3 years now i've heard nothing but him complaining about how shitty a situation bush left the country. SHUT UP!!! We all know the economy took a massive hit in 2008, we voted for you to help turn this around not to hear you complain! We know Bush started a bunch of wars, we voted for you not to complain about it we voted for you to help fix the situation! You're in charge now, put up or shut up don't blame others for your bad situation. You take a job, you know the situation. If you can't get it done then admit it. Passarella IS LUCKY Aguilar came before him because now he has someone to blame every little thing on

OPEN YOUR EYES!! I did it. Its ok, like ASF says Passarella is a pretty terrible human being. Go read some stories about him.

For too long, people have been judging him as just a player, we need to JUDGE HIM AS PRESIDENT

You say if given time el kaiser will right the ship... OK. He's had almost 2 full years and if the championship ended today river would have to play a promocion championship

The only way Passarella can regain even the slightest dignity is by winning the nacional b, winning the copa argentina, winning the 2012 apertura, then winning the 2013 copa libertadores

Now the guy is going to sign Mauro Obolo :confused:

Is that what you want? Mauro Obolo? Is he going to solve our problems?

Honestly I don't like the political inner workings of this club, or any club. Way too much mafia and corruption for my liking, but i know passarella isn't doing his job and the only reason i am getting so worked up is because you are incapable of criticizing el kanser and all you can go on about his how many goals he scored and how many titles he won as a player, when those facts are irrelevant in regards to his presidency

JJ Lopez lost it in the end, and did a terrible job in the last few matches (the last three in particular) where a single win would have kept us in the first division -- but despite that, we had our best season points-wise since 2008, as evidenced by our qualification for the Sudamericana.

And of course, that's before getting in to the sad fact that we had the refs against us for much of that time, including the clear penalty which wasn't called in the first half of the second leg (which would have put us 2-0) which still stings to this day.

It's football, it ********ing happens sometimes. Did you not notice the 10 clear chances we created? Did you not see the 3 ridiculous saves Sessa pulled out of his ass? Did you not realize that if Chichizola had come out with a bit more courage, it would have ended a (still unfair) draw?

Seriously, what the ******** is wrong with you?
