I don't know if it has been mentioned, but the Astros and Rockets together own 77% of CSN Houston http://www.chron.com/sports/article/Comcast-SportsNet-Houston-plans-October-launch-3390518.php
HOLY SHIT! You really ********ing killed it with this one! We're not gonna count that as the last word response. It has to be elaborate to count. nbrooks503 will have the last word, at least that's the way we'll all remember it. Let the record show, Sir Nigel Brooks had the final say and won the argument.
So let's cut to the chase-if this sticks and nothing changes, what are our options for those of us with DirectTV to watch matches? If we get MLS Direct Kick-that still wouldn't work would it? I assumed the MLS online thing will black out home matches (God forbid you don't make it to one) in the local area. So can someone spell out the options for Direct TV subscribers for both home and away matches (not included ch2 or national TV matches)
On line stream. Hulu a day after. The games will be black out casualties. Just like for our Rockets out at bars even if our home game is on NBATV or the like. Turn your sarcasm radar back on P11.
I'm wondering if MLS DirectKick would work with this http://www.tunnelbear.com/. It's a proxy that you can use to defeat the DNS blackouts like streaming BBC programs in the US and ViceVersa.
You should spend the entire 90 minutes plus stoppage time calling and emailing Directv customer service representatives demanding CSN Houston That might work. Usually IP addresses is what they use to determine location but some services use your credit card billing location OR they may blackout all overseas IP addresses. But there are other proxy services that allow you to pick other US cities for the proxy server
I wonder if they just quietly buried it in the non-existent time capsule that they were supposed to be working on with Felix Garcia
Dynamo announced a deal with MEGA 55 for Spanish language games. 7 road games that will be simulcast on CSN Houston. So that may be the way they will get around folks missing road games on tv if they don't have CSN. Although that sort of undercuts the logic or effort behind demanding CSN if the road games are on tv otherwise
http://www.houstondynamo.com/news/2013/02/mega-tv-becomes-new-spanish-tv-home-dynamo So these games will be on both CSN-H and ch. 55. Which would seem to be the 7 away CSN-H games previously announced. Saturday, April 20, @TFC, 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 8, DCU, 6:00 pm Wednesday, June 19 @ MON, 6:00 pm Saturday, July 13 @ NER, 6:30 pm Saturday, August 24 @ MON, 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 4 @ CLB, 6:30 pm Saturday, September 14 @ PHI, 6:30 pm Which means these 4 games are on KPRC-2: Saturday, April 6 @ POR, 9:30 pm Saturday, June 1 @ CLB, 6:30 pm Saturday, August 10 @ RSL, 8:30 pm Saturday, September 28 @ NER, 6:30 pm
Updating the list including CCL games: CSN-H - 15 games (8 home) Mega-55 - 7 games (0 home) KPRC-2 - 6 games ( 2 home) FSC (or something)/UDN - 6 games (3 home) UniMas-67- 5 games (4 home) ESPN2 - 3 games (0 home) NBCSN - 3 games (2 home) ESPN - 1 game (1 home) NBC - 1 game (0 home) That's more than 40 because the Mega-55 games are also on CSH-H. This does mean that we may have as many as 19 games on broadcast TV in Houston depending on whether or not there is some duplication.
I thought this was interesting from the paper today from Jim Crane, it's clear that they are looking to max this thing out to keep up with deals like the Dodgers, unfortunately the minor league product they are putting out in 2013 isn't like the Dodgers: Dynamo putting the CSN road games on MEGA TV is good way to bridge the gap for many. In theory, the only games someone without CSN could miss (barring a deal) would be some home games that they could go in person to see.
The full TV schedule is out: http://www.houstondynamo.com/news/2013/02/houston-dynamo-unveil-local-tv-broadcast-schedule-2013 They will, in fact, have a secondary CSH-H channel referred to as CSN2 on their list. That helps avoid Rockets and Astros conflicts. Unfortunately the overlap of stations was not as favorable as it appeared it might be. There are 11 games only available on CSN-H or CSN2. Not good. At least at the moment. Those games are: March 23 Vancouver April 6 @ Portland May 12 Kansas City June 1 @ Columbus June 22 Toronto July 6 Philadelphia August 3 Columbus August 10 @ Salt Lake September 28 @ New England October 4 Montreal October 9 Kansas City Only 4 of them are away games at least. Overall break-down including the CCL games: CSN-H - 12 games (9 home) CSN2 - 8 games (1 home) Mega-55 - 7 games (0 home) KPRC-2 - 6 games ( 4 home) FSC (or something)/UDN - 6 games (3 home) UniMas-67- 5 games (4 home) ESPN2 - 3 games (0 home) NBCSN - 3 games (2 home) ESPN - 1 game (1 home) NBC - 1 game (0 home) BOLD are over-the-air broadcast games in Houston. Again, that is more than 40 because of overlap.
Turns out this information was incorrect as far as the MEGA games all being on CSN-H. And my speculation on which games would be on Ch. 2. Saturday, April 20, @TFC, 3:00 pm KPRC & MEGA Wednesday, May 8, DCU, 6:00 pm Wednesday, June 19 @ MON, 6:00 pm KPRC & MEGA Saturday, July 13 @ NER, 6:30 pm Saturday, August 24 @ MON, 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 4 @ CLB, 6:30 pm Saturday, September 14 @ PHI, 6:30 pm The KPRC-2 games are: Saturday, March 30, SJE, 7:30 pm Saturday, April 20, @TFC, 3:00 pm Saturday, May 18, NER, 7:30 pm Wednesday, June 19, @ MON, 6:00 pm Saturday, August 17, SEA, 8:00 pm Saturday, September 21, CHV, 7:30 pm
Pretty amazing. Our first 9 games could be watched on 9 different channels assuming that Univision Deportes picks up at least one of the CCL games.
I have no idea what CSN2 is but on Comcast it's probably Channel 110 where they put overflow events on (the old Fox Houston Plus) and is not currently in HD. That sucks. I assume any other carriers would have CSN2 whenever they get around to it.
This is a good take on the situation and why the Astros season starting may not move anything (second half of article): chron
The end of the entry talks about the CSN situation. http://blog.chron.com/sportsmedia/2...he-continuing-csn-houston-carriage-stalemate/
I love CSN cause I have it, and that means I get to watch all the games and read how miserable y'all are! All of this is happening while I'm at home laughing! Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha Y'all lose, I win! BEST. DECISION. EVER! Now GTFO of my forum!
Can you connect the games from your tv and hook it up to some free online streaming website like First Row Sports?
Wait until the remainder of the Astros fanbase reads that Crane is hosting Obama for golf today and donated significantly to the Dems and the Obama campaign (which BTW, Comcast is a big donor as well as our buddy Les). I bet that Rangers games outrate Astros games in Houston this season.
^ I thought they already were with just about everyone jumping on the Ranger bandwagon the only time Minute Maid was packed.
