Seeing Mata get himself into the middle is like having an attractive girl do something painful to you.

You enjoy seeing it at the time, but every moment longer it lasts will just make it hurt more once it ends.

Wow. Rooney scores a goal. The wonder of it....

(honestly, wasn't that fairly straightforward? Not according to the announcer.)

So, in what minutes do we concede the customary two goals to Palace?

Moyes will definitely use this game as a positive sign for the future. Of course he will ignore the fact that we're playing Crystal Palace and that a full back made both goals happen.

Thats a routine goal for an England international, for a player that makes over 100k. For someone who'd allegedly start on barca, madrid and bayern.

there's actually no one on the right. the avg position map shows rooney and mata dead center behind rvp.

Been watching this game and you lot ought to be pleased with Januzaj's performance off the ball. I thought his defensive play has been quite wild all season (which is normal for a teenage winger, Sterling was like that for us last year) but I've been impressed with his defensive work today.

yea well that helps a bit more.

but i am still not sure if it is a tactical shift from Moyes, a tactical rebellion from the players or just something that was arbitrary in this game or a consequence of something else

One of the problems calling for a free role for a three behind RvP, is that these guys still don't understand each other, how to play together. They spend most of their time getting in each others way.

Rooney would miss half the Spanish season through injury - "Sunburn"

Not better as a wide forward than this years Sanchez. Not better than Benzema.

Better than Madzukic? Clearly he's excellent because that's a very good standard of player to compare rooney to.

I hope they do make it click, because Rooney and Mata seem to be two of the best blind passers in our team, with either of them laying it off to the other and a quality striker in front it'd be as they say nice.

Tbh I hope we stick with them rather than shove welbeck in uptop too.

Instead of giving Kagawa and Hernandez a little game time, he puts on Giggs and Valencia.

I guess being subbed means we will likely see Adnan midweek (and RvP obviously).

Also guess that makes Rooney 9 & Mata play 10 for the rest of the game which will be interesting.

I think they will. But this is the kind of move that needs a summer to work. Well a summer and a manager who isn't as tactically crap as Moyes.

I'll take 3 points. Didn't set the world on fire, but points are a precious commodity and no sure thing these days.
