at Sunday, April 13, 3:00pm eastern Buck Shaw Stadium TWCSC-OH / UniMas San Jose had last weekend off to prepare for the Crew. After the game against Toronto, the Crew may be glad they don't have an off week and can get back on the field right away. That said, the small dimensions at Buck Shaw may prove detrimental to the Crew's possession passing style. This will be a tough test for the Crew. 2-2. San Jose hasn't been impressive but they usually score at home. Think we bounce back a bit from last week and get a little offense and a point. I would be happy to not see Williams attempt any crosses in this game. (stats are interesting, thanks)
First time I'm voting loss this year. Arietta treats it like a game in KC and gets a goal. But Wondo burns the backline after a bad turnover, and Big Bird heads in the late finisher shortly after earning a yellow that might easily have been red for a foul against Parkhurst. The good news: Oduro plays on the wing this time and gets in some dangerous runs on through balls from Higuain, who no longer has the heart to keep targeting Josh or Waylon on the outside of the attack.

I too wonder how long Berhalter will try Oduro up top. He just isn't that type of hold-up forward... Arrieta isn't amazing, but he's much better at that style. Just difficult to see who he bumps w/ Jimenez and Anor playing so well.
One of the big mysteries for me so far this season is why Barson hasn't seen the field. This isn't just because of the promise he showed last year, but because he's exactly the kind of young player who seems coachable, and whom I would expect to flourish under someone like 3G. Oh, and in keeping with my theme for this week, take off, Joser.
I remember browsing big soccer Crew every once and a while in 01/02, but the forum at the time was a bit of a train wreck.
my only thought is that Josh showed a little better in preseason. GB has stated that he will not pull a player for making one mistake. with that being said, it has been the past three games and I have been less than impressed with Josh. it is not that he has made mistakes just not producing. I had mentioned in another thread that I have talked with a few guys on the team about the reserve games, and it was unanimous that Barson had been doing very well, 3-4 assists and a drawn PK in 3 games. Now my disclosure is that I followed the HG's in college and I have always liked what I have seen from Barson. He is a true defender and maybe GB wanted to work on his offensive abilities. there was a article the end of last year I saw floating around about defenders in the MLS, Barson was statistically the top defender in all three categories (one v one, beat on the dribble, and i believe blocked shots). he seems to be a very intelligent player, like Trapp, and I feel he would be able to change tactics within a game without being instructed to. I would love to see Barson starting at right back, I feel that he and Trapp could be the young future of the club.
I thought Jiminez was the weakest link against TFC. He was a turnover machine when we were in possession in the final 3rd. I'd say this would lead nicely in to replacing him with Oduro (or Meram) and giving Arrieta the start up top.
A very wise man once said, " You can't overlap Dominic Oduro." So then Williams (or Barson) would play defense. That in not the 3G way.
Oduro moves inside to make the space, just as Jiminez did. But he uses his pace to launch up the wing for more quick counter attacks when Williams is deeper defending.
