NY doesn't have much of a defense. Mendes and Parke are two of the weakest starting central defenders in MLS, I don't think it'll be long before Brunner supplants one of the two. Their midfield is average at best. Reyna is still the most over rated player in American soccer and is well past it now anyway. The only player in their midfield that scares me, Dane Richards, is out thanks to their "friendly" against the mother softdrink. Great forward line though. Which is a shame because they have no one to get them the ball.

I'm thinking Moffat and Carroll can control the middle. If the Crew attack with pace down the wings and pour players into the attacking half like they did last year, the NY defense will crack. The Crew just have to finish their chances. Still, Angel and Altidore are krafty and capable of creating goals with even a little space. Like last year in Columbus, the key is Marshall on Angel. Marshall completely manhandled Angel the last time, didn't even give him an inch. It was perhaps the best performace he'd ever had as a professional. He'll have to match that. On the other hand they didn't have Altidore for that game so this is really going to be a test for O'Rourke in his new roll. There can't be any mistakes against these two.

All and all, this is a game the Crew should walk away from with some points.

After all this time, it finally worked. I knew it would someday. "Win by two" has been my bet in every single match for two years. I feel the pendulum swinging my way. KCBus better watch his ass.

3-2 Go Crew. Moffat, Guille and Rogers. Altidore and Angel for the pink cows.

Kool-Aid sure tastes sweet. Moffat will be team MVP this year. And score at least 5-7 goals on top of that.

According to multiple "sources," yes. But I'd expect him to come off the bench for the first game or two.

I love the Kool-Aid as much as the next guy, but I'm going with a 2-2 tie here.

I think the Crew can score on their defense, but either Angel or Altidore will score for the Energy Drinks. Plus, when you're playing a team with two giant offensive weapons, someone usually gets free on a corner and taps in a garbage goal.

On the Crew side, I think either Robbie or Guillermo will get his first of the season, and Ale Moreno or Moffat get their 2nd.

I would guess the average age of NY's starters will be at least two years higher than the average age of ours. Don't know if that will mean anything on the field though.

Hesmer and the back line will hold em off until a breakdown in the second half. We'll hold on to win 2-1:cool:

I don't give a hot damn about those sewer rat havin, Brooklyn Zoo-smellin, Hillary-lovin, Hoffa-finding, Manhattan street hobo having, Bronx gang-bangin', world's best pizza claimin', Hell's Kitchen fryin', MTV studio wanksta havin, plastic turf toe wearing, Central Park muggin, irregular English speakin' scrubs!

Their only defense is their offensive Colombian, after that it's all shambles. Ole boy from Colombia better have like 10 Steno note pads for the amount of notes he's gotta take against the C-Bus! Run it!

Another 2-0 win. Red Bulls looked just as bad as TFC down in Carolina and we have a game and confidence under our sails.

I'll be at the game as usual so I'm gonna say 2-1, C-Bus gets the W. I got a new digital camera for my last vacation so I should be able to get some good pics, maybe a little video. I have quarter season tickets (2x Crew, LA, and DCU) 15 rows up midfield and I bet their gonna love my banana kit blemish in all that red on Pink Cow opening day... or should I wear the black 2001 jersey instead?

I'm in section 111 this season. The past couple I've been a little farther down the sidelines, but moved on up to midfield this season. They'll be 3 others with me. Sometimes they root for the Mutts but when I buy the tix I usually get pissed and force them to wear some yellow and yell for the crew.

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet. But, we are so truly massive that GBS has scored on the Red Bulls before the match has even started!

    Check it out!

How long before Soccernet notices this and fixes it? (Knowing my luck before anyone here sees it, making me seem crazy)

Just to preserve it for posterity (and so when it happens, the RedBalls fans can scream "FIX")

Per Mitchell today, Padula is on the roster, and Griffin was waived. Burns on season ending IR.

I said Crew by one, but now I'm thinking maybe by 2. Marshall on the end of a Guille FK, and Rogers getting free for one. I don't think the 3-5-2 will work well early.

Line-up. Can't see many changes. Is Gino ready to go? I hope so.

    ---------Ricky Bobby-----------
    Hejduk--Danny--Marshall--Padula
    -------Carroll------Moffat-------
    Gaven-------------------Rogers
    -------------Guille-------------
    ------------Moreno------------

Bench: Hebrew Hammer, Iro, Migs, Oughton, So, Garey.

    http://crewonespot.blogspot.com/2008/04/gameday-2-preview-columbus-vs-red-bulls.html

My preview. I'm confident because NYRB's defense and midfield is weak and untested, especially on the wings. If our defense can stay tough and hold up against Altidore and Angel we should be fine. May rush Padula in there if Sigi isn't confident with Miglioranzi with that pairing. This is the real test to get a shut out. Even if we win the midfield battle. Angel and Altidore should get some chances to get by our defense.
