I think it may be possible. Factors that may help....

-One of the last chances for people to use vouchers.
-Part of the Beckham 5 packs
    -Blanco
    -Saturday

Anyone think we can do it? If we got 25,000+ for Toronto, then I think we can do it based on all the things listed.

I never really thought of it, but I guess it is possible. How much of a bump has there been across the league when Blanco is in town?

Chivas basically doubled their attendance when he came. But in general it's been about 5,000 people per game I'd say.

I doubt it. I think one of the reasons we had 25K last weekend was that it was our first Saturday game in several weeks. Now a lot of fans got it out of their system, and I bet many are just focusing on the playoffs at this point.

I'd say 25K for both our last games.

    Blanco effect...
Chicago home games were averaging 12 or 13k pre-Blanco, now they are all 18k and above. Brought the average up over 15k.

Attendance of Fire road games since he signed:

    07/29 - Sunday @ Toronto FC 20,322
    August
    08/18 - Saturday @ Real Salt Lake 18,913
    08/22 - Wednesday @ Kansas City Wizards 12,468
    09/01 - Saturday @ New York Red Bulls 13,219
    09/08 - Saturday @ Columbus Crew 19,983
    09/20 - Thursday @ FC Dallas 15,059
    09/29 - Saturday @ Chivas USA 27,000

No real bump in Toronto, 2000 bump in Salt lake, 3000 bump in Kansas City (at the time), 2000 bump in NY (this was right after the Galaxy game, so this is probably more Becks than Blanco), 6000 or 7000 bump in Columbus, Dallas..no real bump, Chivas 14000 bump. Blanco's impact on attendance has been huge, Becks just gets all the credit for the increased attendance. For us, we already have a strong following, so we could get 30k, but I'm thinking more like 22-25k.

I can't figure out Dallas and Houston... I know it is hot, but star players, entertaining to watch, Latino population, yet still continue to hover around the 15k average.

Last weekend was also the last game that you could exhcnage unused tickets, which helped out. It will be good to see over 30k though!

Eh, Dallas is having maybe the most stable year in attendance in its entire history. Can't complain about overall numbers. The only negative in Dallas is that even with 15K in that stadium, the atmosphere is hit and miss.

Houston is lower than I expected, but I guess you have to expect a sophmore slump. The good thing about Houston is that even 10K looks and sounds better than most other MLS cities can do with 20K. Also Houstonians have shown a lot of willingness to support the team in international competitions.

It would be great if the fans really are focusing on the playoffs but I suspect that a lot of the more casual fans that show up when we have our biggest crowds don't know too much about them.

We may have the most involved and educated fans in the league but the ticket sales folks still have to work hard to get them sold. But it helps that we clinched a playoff spot so many weeks in advance and have MLS Cup to promote, too.

It'll be a great sign if the team draws a really big crowd (CROWDS, hopefully!) for the postseason.

Last 3 years we seem to be getting around 20-25k for playoff games. That's really impressive IMO considering no advance ticket sales. Even in the 90's about half our playoff games were over 20K and the team was still new then. With our success this year, I don't see any reason to expect anything less, unless we have some horrible weather or something.

Nah...that's what their language is called.

Another regular season game that might be packed is the final one against Columbus. Two reasons:
    • My guess is that the SS will go down to the final match
    • United has that $55 package for the MLS Cup with the Columbus game thrown in.

Oct 13th has group rates for more youth soccer leagues - And they probably are doing the same thing for the 20th

And besides the MLS Cup/Columbus game package, DC United Ticket Office is also offering a Play-Off Strip package - There will be a lot of pre-game ticket sales through these packages plus TicketMaster (or whatever) - If DC United appears to be on a roll, they'll get up to 25K easily
